Hi All,

Was just at Walmart to pick up some ReliOn Confirm test strips and noticed that they had another ReliOn meter called the Prime- and it's test strips were less than half the cost of the Confirm's.

I asked the pharmacist there about it and he said the Prime was a newer and better model with the test strips strips costing much less. Seems the blood sample size is the difference- .3 vs .5 for the Prime.

The Prime is a nice looking meter.

How many of you are using the Prime?

Is the Prime as good as the Confirm?

Looks like it might make sense to switch.

Thanks!

I think most of us use the Confirm or Micro, but we do have some that use the Prime too

We've heard quite a few complaints about the Prime giving frequent error messages though and the fact that it does take a bigger blood sample size matters especially if your cat is new or isn't a good "bleeder"

The newest strips for the Confirm/Micro are great...they have excellent "sipping action" that pulls the blood into the strip really well

It's really a matter of choice though...and it's always good to have a "backup meter" anyway in case your main meter breaks or has a dead battery at 3am in the morning

I've used both, right now I'm using the Prime but only because the Devil's dancin' in my empty pockets. It does take twice the blood and does tend to give me error readings or erroneous readings more often than my Micro. If I can afford it, I'll always go back to my Micro.

It IS a newer meter but it's NOT a better meter, just a bit cheaper to use. By the time I figure in those errors and retests, it's not a LOT cheaper tho'...

I've used the Confirm and Micro and like the Micro best because it is the simplest for me to use.

Wow- thanks for all the great input- you're all great! I think I'll stick with my Confirm... and maybe pick up a Micro as a backup (and they both use the same test strips). :)
