Dose change/ Stalling AMPS/

Hi all.
I am in a stall pattern for AMPS. I had dropped Tucker's dose because I had a gut feeling his pancreas was sputtering, due to signs I noticed..Which we can discuss in a little bit.
He definitely dropped and back to happy same old self..
But right now, I need opinion on dose.
Lower? Or stay?
He is rising..171 right now, up from 158
Help needed

Brenda, you might continue to stall for a little longer, as his # is coming up without food in him. Give him 15 min or so after last ck, then ck. again.
 
Robin, he was doing so well 8/9, 8/10 and just a DIFFERENT CAT! I just felt his pancreas was sputtering and deserved a chance to try.
So I lowered. And he went blue! He feels good!
Am I wrong? I think I should hold here at 1.u

????
 
I forgot to say..the high #'s yesterday made him feel awful. I just FELT like the dose was too much, if his pancreas was trying to work!
Right now he is acting perfect, playing and bright eyed. Very sociable. He's changing!!

I would; he may be, indeed, be evening out for you @ that dose. And is better to hold the dose for 5 to 6 12-hr. cycles if you can. Have you gotten another AMPS reck. yet/ or will you soon?
 
Will you be around for a while yet today? He's so close to 200; and at the reduced dose, you might be able to go ahead with the 1.0 ...
What's your gut telling you?
 
He's miffed!! I just let him eat his lunch.
I mean, poor guy! It's only fair!

I think the tiny bit of insulin is holding longer than 12 hrs is what I think.:rolleyes:

Yeah, when they do that "hang-time" thing, it can be a real pain in the butt. I wish Sue could weigh in on this ... let me go back & look at Bat's SS from earlier in spring to see how we handled that (my memory is shot).
 
Well ... every time she did the "hang-time" dance, if I gave her the usual dose, even when she had risen to close to 200, she'd drop too much at nadir.
Hmm. I dunno; you might give him 0.5 today - you did say you'd be around to monitor, right? As I'm concerned that if you skip altogether, he might respond with another bouncy-bounce thing. Arrgh, a tough call.
@BJM - Can you take a look at this, please?
 
Well if he goes looonnnggg on nadir, I won't be around! Just til +6 since we are now 1.5 hrs, almost 1.75 hrs late now?!!
So I would be gone from +5 or +6 until +9 now!
 
Might have to just skip then. And just expect a higher PMPS; would rather you be safe, esp. since you're almost 1.75 hrs. from usual shot time.
Oh well, Brenda: __it happens.
 
The good news is that it looks like you're getting closer to Tucker's "sweet spot" as far as dosage is concerned. (Ha, maybe "sweet" spot isn't the best descriptive word as relates to a diabetic ...:p)
 
It's OK. It could possibly be for the best.
What if he surfs along for awhile?
I'll be testing, just to get a good picture.
He definitely doesn't mind being low!:cool:

Well I am gonna water the garden now, he's nappin' and my little girl wants to go out with Momma. Her name is SpiderSparkle,and she resembles Bat-Bat.
All black, and OTJ.
 
Unless I missed it, looks like you're skipping this dose? I'd definitely go with 1u if you do shoot - yep, I suspect you're about to have a few pj parties with a sputtering pancreas! EXCITING!!! Tucker wants off this juice!

Well we skipped! He just tested +4 =313..
 
Late to the party too but how exciting, Brenda. Great instincts to reduce the dose. Yes, I can see no other explanation than that his pancreas is waking up every so often. The trick is that you never know when it is going to join in, so you have to watch carefully.

I just got in, and tested. Boy is he high. 477
I fed and will dose at 10 Central time.

What do you think about staying at 1.0, is that what is best now?
 
I think I might stay at 1 unit. He was going to be high tonight no matter what. This way, you can hopefully keep him from dropping super low, triggering a bounce. Just my thoughts, though. :)
 
Yep, stay the course! We knew we'd see a high PMPS tonight ;) - I think Rachel's right about holding the 1.0.

That happened to me once, too! Ya gotta watch everybody you do biz with like a hawk. Lots of idiots out there!
 
Wow. I was HOT. How do you make a mistake like that? It's on record, AND I actually handed them the empty bag as a reference, JUST IN CASE.
I calmed down before I got there.
So don't worry, I'm not in jail.
