Hello to all. It has been months since I last posted. Coleman has been getting along well. I test twice a day. He is getting a dose of 2.25 when readings are over 200. Less than 2.25 keeps him 400+, more than that keeps him too low. Eating wet food only off the approved list.
I was at work all day. Home about 6pm. He seemed fine, but I had to shower, cook, etc... When time for his test (which he loves), I could not get his attention and he was 'wandering the walls'...I was thinking he was looking for a place to pee (a bad habit, he is on Clomicalm). When I picked him up and put him on the counter (ODD...he always jumps up) he kept stepping in all the testing supplies and seemed unaware. His ears were really hot and bled out a lot. Reading was 29. It is not unusual for him to read 40-70 every few days, but this was too low and it all made sense. Disoriented, vision and hearing problems, clumsy.
I gave him 6mL of honey, his BFF dinner, some Natural Balance and a bit of Friskies. 15 min later down to 27. Called vet, they recommended bringing him in. (never happens on a weekday when regular vet is open!). Two more readings before I left for vet...+30 from initial was 54, +45 was 68. At the vets the read was 108 with their meter and 112 with ours. Said he seemed fine and doing better. Brought him home.
At +4 from initial reading, symptoms are less but still obvious. At +2.75 he was 223 and at +3.3 he was 300. I have continued to feed, Friskies with Pure Bites, and he has a good appetite. Soooooo....
HERE'S MY QUESTION: How long does it take for Moderate level symptoms to completely resolve? I will for sure take him to the Emergency Clinic again, but don't want to if he is improving but just at a slower rate. I am sure that they think I'm already crazy since I brought ALL of his equipment with us and insisted on BG tests with our meter as well as theirs!
