Headed for a stall I think..

Gads he's at 408. He had a sneaked a small piece of halibut at 8:30 that I brought home in my bag!
What now?
I have his dose drawn up & he's eating:banghead:

Are you sure it is 408? Going from 158 to 408 in one hour seems odd even with the halibut snack.

I might test again just to make sure. If it is 408, I think I would continue with the 1.25u as you have in your previous doses. It was such a large swing in that last hour, I am not sure if I would be comfortable giving him a higher dose at this time since it is somewhat an anomaly.

I agree. Shoot the 1.25U. (How much had he eaten before you got that 408 #? I mean excluding the sneaky halibut ...)

Okay we cross posted. :) Yep, I'd shoot. And maybe then grab a test at +2 or 3 and see where he is headed.

I think the 408 was probably just a one of those wonky tests. (Happened to us just the other day.) Rachel beat me to it: Get a +2 or +3 tonight to see where he's headed; if he's dropping considerably, you can give him a snack & then you can sleep like a baby!

Yes, thank you! I am going to!
Awhile back when I was consistently getting high #'s I know it was my feeding him wrong, before testing, or close anyway.
I think he shoots waaay up there on just a little bit of FF even!
Is this common??

Yeah that 408 seemed really strange. Good job on re-testing. If a number like that shows up, always good to re-test.

Ok - So that 288 is still food induced so if you gave 1.25u, then I would definitely test at +2. You have not shot 1.25u for a number in the 200's yet so be sure to set your alarm. We are hoping that you will see a 288 or possibly higher for your 2+ number. If it is a little lower, it still may be ok as long as it is just a little lower. He may go lower tonight but we will see. Good thing it is the weekend, right?

Can be. I've seen Bat-Bat spike on just one piece of potato chip. (Which caused me to scold my husband: "If you're gonna miss your mouth while you walk around the house snacking, go outside to do it!") Was that piece of halibut by any chance breaded?

You've heard ECID right? Every cat is different! My Gypsy couldn't tolerate above 5% carbs, while other kitties usually do well under 10. Maybe Tucker is really food sensitive. I do think the 408 wasn't accurate like Robin said. I think the before bed test will help clarify. :)

Wow, Bat-Bat's like Gypsy was on carb-sensitivity - found I didn't even need "high-carb" food to pull her out of hypo. Sure makes the food selections more limited ...

No breading. Naked. Baked piece

I can do that. Probably be up anyway.
I need to eat myself!.

Well, that was interesting. I was trying to wrack my brain to find a reasonable explanation for a 300+ increase in an hour. Really glad it was a wonky number.

I think he is just not a very predictable cat, Brenda. In general, I see more blues and a few greens - no reds. But he seems to take a long time to "settle into" a dose (which shouldn't really be the case with an in and out insulin) and about the time we are thinking increase, he throws some nice numbers.

I am thinking you need several pairs of patience pants, in different colors, so you'll have a different outfit every day to go with his interesting spreadsheet.......

Thank you for the SMILE this morning, Sue. Of course I want to be color coordinated with my cat's diabetic spreadsheet.. Nothing fanatical there. ;)
I gotta say, I am buckling down better on this feeding schedule, since I see he is super sensitive to the foods.
I will not be bullied by the Others herd mentality!!
Really Sue, I was not paying attention to the 2 hour window, preshot. That's why the stolen halibut last evening wasn't a huge deal (then).
I am going to be very diligent today as I've had 4 CONSECUTIVE hours of sleep! Whoop de do. In the sugar world, why that's almost a full night!
I am on my way to shop for a food buffet, after shot.
I won't even get into a Food post right now...:banghead:
:bighug:

Glad to see you wake up with your sense of humor intact.

You might read some of the food threads on Health. There have been several lately, all with good information and ideas.

But not halibut. Cat beat you to it!:woot:
Let me get back to you on THAT. 9 HOURS LATER.
Lol. Yes, thanks to the Good Thief.. Mom had salad and a filling cup of miso.
"..Yea, you little booger..THAT would not fill YOU up."
Lying on his back with his belly all poofed up, filled with halibut and Fancy Feast..

BTW, how about replacing that 408 on the spreadsheet. It makes me nervous.
Brenda, I usually put a wonky # like that (esp. when I'm doing re-tests) over in comments at right, with the time of the test beside it.
Started doing that after I kept having to do multiple BG re-checks to get a shootable #; then I'd just put the shootable # in the chart. (Did that make sense? Just woke up & only have 1/2 cuppa Joe in me.)

So much good food advice over there lately. I've made notes for future forays.
Thanks for reminding though.

Done, Lady!
I've had 3 (THREE) cups.
I'm all over it.

Cool ... POETRY!!!

Here you go, patience pants for every color in the spreadsheet. (Rupert's Mom needed a pair this am too.)
