I will be away from home tonight when Squallie is due for his evening shot of insulin. Will it be okay to give it to him 1-2 hours late, or should I just bypass it altogether? Thanks for the advice!
Yes, his last test was at +8 hours and was 163.Is his ss accurate that he is now getting 7 units? And any mid day tests today?
I did, I had to be at the hospital for a PET scan and had no one else to give it to him.And you skipped yesterday morning?
Yes, he is on Vetslin.@Sue and Oliver (GA) , I think you are versed on vetsulin?
I was wrong, his lasttest was at +9.Yes, his last test was at +8 hours and was 163.
Thank you! I just tested him about 45 minutes ago and it was 163, so I'll probably wait. Don't mean to be stupid but what does "no depot to manage" mean? There is no depot to manage, so you may shoot late.
OR, if you test before you leave and he is already high, you might give him the shot early, or give only a partial shot to keep him from getting too high before your return.
Yes, it seems high to me but the vet just raised it to 7 units on Thursday.I would wait also. A depot insulin has carry over from cycle to cycle; a non depot insulin like Vetsulin is an in and out insulin. Once it's gone, it's gone
Looks like you might need to reduce the dose

Thanks. He goes back to the vet on Monday, I'll ask her about it.The goal is to have two shootable numbers twice daily. If you are skipping doses, I'd think a reduction might be good
