Would appreciate a look at Catee SS. I have posted in the Prozinc forum about this previously.

I use Alphtrak. Note his numbers, first number is Alphatrak, second is Relion.

His numbers are high. Started on 7/5. I got the insulin on 6/8. High Preshots in the AM... he was going down somewhat in the PM. Now it looks like he is staying up high and not coming down. At first I thought the Purina DM dry food might be doing it (they have changed the design) but he has been eating it for awhile and since they changed the "design" he has ate two bags of it.

This mornings AMPS as well as the PM Nadir is making me think the insulin has gone bad. He is not going down at all now at Nadir and has went up dramatically this morning. AMPS on relion 248. He is drinking more, eating more since yesterday. Laying around much more, not as active. Yesterday and this morning.

The insulin, I am unsure how it is suppose to look like "normal". I have to say before rolling it isn't exactly as clear as I have seen it. Plus it seems foamy at the top after rolling. There is also a residue at the top of the jar I have not seen before.

It appears to me now after 9 days that the insulin has gone bad. He could have developed insulin resistance. Would greatly appreciate any input.

It will be hard financially but I think I will go today and get another bottle of Prozinc.

You might check out BCP PZI which may be slightly less expensive than the ProZinc. And do look online for ProZinc; just get the Rx from your vet.

You brought up a good point, how would you know if the insulin went bad, besides higher numbers and clinical signs? I am new here and don't have that answer but, I am sure someone with knowledge of what it should look like will jump in and give some advice about that. I have wondered myself, especially if the bottle will still be good after a three month period?

Well, I just got back from the Vet. He wanted to talk to me and look at my spreadsheet before giving another bottle. From what I got he does not think the insulin went bad. He wants me to give equal dosages. Like .30 AM and PM. Instead of doing what I was previously .40 AM and .20 PM. He wants me to try the equal dosage for so many days on the old bottle but said I could get a new one if I wanted it. I went ahead and got the new one.... will be using it.

I told him about Catee's back turning black, his skin, that he said in the past he was depositing pigment but I did not know what that means but I thought it was from him laying out in sun by the window all morning. The vet still did not tell me what depositing pigment means. After I told him that.... he started saying there may be something else wrong with him.

So hopefully it is that the insulin went bad and something else is not wrong.

Thank you all for the support.

Good luck with the new bottle. I hope you get a better result.
