Tiger is still not eating.

In the past month she has had blood work done, x-rays, and an ultrasound. Other than very early stages of CRF, they did not see anything wrong with her. She also had a dental with a few extractions done last week. She is on Tramadol for pain.

I took her in Saturday for the vet to check her sutures and they said everything looks good. She also had not lost any more weight.

I have been force feeding her A/D and when she does decide to eat a few bites, the only food she will eat is canned FF Kitten food. Does anyone have any suggestions to get her to start eating again? At times she acts like she is hungry, but when I give her food, she walks away from it.

The good news is that the kitten Amelia, who also was not eating last week, decided to finally start eating yesterday. It was so good to walk into the room and hear that tiny little voice demanding food. :D

I would ask them for a cyproheptadine which is an appetite stimulant. My vet said it works best on cats rather than Mirtazapine which is better for dogs. After my cat Arthur had nine teeth pulled several years ago he was on it for quite awhile. I had to syringe feed some and was quite worried. It works very quickly too and can be given several times a day.

Canned Fancy Feast Kitten Turkey and Giblets is fine for her diabetes, though a bit high in phosphorus. There are phosphorus binders that may be used if that is the only food she will eat.

See Feline CRF for more info on the renal disease.

I have been adding the phosphorus binders. I also have been force feeding her A/D. I suspect that it may be IBD but the vet wants to hold off on giving her budensonide until the infection in her mouth clears. Mischief has IBD and it has helped with her. Tiger has an appointment this Saturday so hopefully they will give me the ok to start it.

If it's been a few days since the extractions, I would try stopping the tramadol. It can cause increased nausea/changes in behavior. Maybe stop for a day, and see if that improves it. Also, when Max was having eating issues, I made a soup of kibble and water. It was much more appealing and much easier to eat than the wet food. Eating is more important than a few days of extra carbs, so offer a variety.

Also, phosphate binders can cause nausea and constipation. Is she using the litter box normally?

She stopped the Tramadol a couple of days ago. Litterbox looks normal. She did eat a little Friskies canned food last night and this morning.
