Yesterday, I did a mini curve plus on Bubba. I did 14 hours and then at the 20 1/2 hour, I awoke to him throwing up a hair ball so did one at that time too. I would appreciate if some experienced eyes could look at it and interpret it for me. I kept him at the 1 unit mark again this amps but, maybe I should have raised it a bit? It seems we are two steps forward, and one step back. I want to learn the dance steps.....

Since you didn't shoot the morning of 7/11 and then gave a reduced dose of .5 that same night, the "cycle count" starts over again, so he needs to stay on the 1 unit dose for 6 consecutive cycles before you consider going up again

Any time you have to skip or give a reduced dose, everything kind of starts over again

Not with ProZinc, Chris. You can shoot a sliding scale, which Bobbi has been doing, and change up the dose.

What Is interesting to me, Bobbi, is that 1.25 was too much for 300 2 cycles ago, but didn't do as much yesterday. Having a hairball can be stressful and can raise the levels. I think I'd give one unit one more cycle at this 300+ range and then maybe try a fat one unit - a little less than 1.25 but more than one.

I know it's frustrating that 1.25 gives you the unshootable pre shot and one unit gives you a higher preshot. The good news is that you are giving small doses and he is generally in very good ranges. He is below the renal threshold (around 250) so his pancreas can be healing.

Is there a way we can keep him a little higher overnight if you shoot the 1.25? Do you leave food out? A small amount of food, especially later in the cycle, might help the number from being so low at amps.

I usually give him a small amount of food around 9pm. I am giving him 4-5 mini meals a day. Should I put something out later than that. His pm shot is at 6pm.

We aren't sure when he drops but we would think about 5-7 so a snack would be good then. And one around +8 might keep the preshot number higher. You have other kitties, right? Would an automatic feeder work? It makes tthose small meals easier and can be set to close 2 hours before shot time. Is there any way to maybe have him in your room at night with a feeder?

I will try putting a snack out before I go to bed. Bubba likes to be down in the basement most of the night; he comes into my room between 4-5 am. I'll look into a feeder for him and thanks for the suggestions.
