Well, it certainly felt weird not testing fanatically! I am waking up constantly now..w/o the alarms. This is a LOL. The house has never looked better..cause hey, as long as I'm up..:joyful:
My little boy is coming back around, socially and is basically good at test times. I am feeding mini meals to entire household now, and it's about 6X a day. I hope this is okay for Tucker? He is getting 6-9 oz per day, total. I plan on researching diet for weight gain for him, and get a baby scale. His backbone & shoulder area seem to be filling in. It *seems* he is gaining...Still the neuropathy present, but it sure looks lessened. If this is possible.

:bighug: Sue how do our #'s look? I stayed at 1 unit until today and I was unsure to try going up or down. Still mighty fearful, as I know so little. I'm hoping for your input on dose, or whatever you feel pertinent.

Another question I have is this: What is the best way to compare insulin costs in my area? In my experience doing this with anything online, it never fails to be wrong, or not "updated" etc.
And finally ➡What if my vet won't order the compounded PZI for us?

I think I might try 1.25 again, on a cycle you can monitor. His preshots are pretty high and he has room to drop.

For the human insulin (Lantus or Levemir) you should be able to call a pharmacy and ask. Also ask if they will sell you a single pen rather than a vial. You will need a prescription from your vet. PZI can only be bought from a vet and BCP PZI can only be ordered through a vet's office.

Wonderful to hear that things are improving overall, for both of you!

With the high pre shots, is your recommendation Lantus/Levemir or ...? when I am able to transition? I mean, based on his tendencies so far? I know ECID, but should my decision be insulin base or #'s based if you know what I mean

Any of those are better than N. ProZinc and BCP tend to be more flexible in dosing; Lantus and Levemir work best 12 hours apart. With Lantus and Levemir, you base dose changes on the nadir so it is important to be able to test then. You might go over and look at the stickies on the top of each of the forum.
