Hi! Can someone please look at Casey's spreadsheet. She's now up in the 300's again? Do you think it's a bounce and should I remain with the reduced dose to see how it plays out??

It could be. Also might be that the 299 pre shot needed a little higher dose. Whatever you decide to do tonight will give you some good info about how to proceed

I'm confused because the .5 brought her down to 101 at +5. Isn't that quite a drop? If it is high again in the morning, should I up the dose?

You could be right - maybe there was a lower number before or after the 101 and it caused a bounce. Why don't you go with your gut (always wise) and lower and see what happens.

Have we talked about sliding scales? The idea would be to shoot .5 on the 200s and a smidge more on the 300s. You could try one unit for them or .75 if you can eyeball it.

Sorry for the late reply Sue been preoccupied with other things and I need to update Caseys spreadsheet. I'll do it today. We never talked about sliding scales but I can give it a try. I am feeling a bit lost with all of this. She dipped very low yesterday...low for her. I did give a reduced dose this morning as she wasn't eating well for me.. I'll see how she does.

I am not at all familiar with Prozinc/PZI, since I use Levemir, but it may be useful if you are able to get a few more evening tests around +3 or +4 or when possible around +5 or +6. Casey does some drops during the day and it would be good to know how she is reacting on the evening cycle to get a bigger picture. Hopefully the more experienced members will be able to give you some dosing advise. Good luck!

Thanks. I never really did evening testing unless she has a low pmps. Is that something I should do all the time? I noticed from reading some other posts that some test one hour after evening shot.

My kitty seems to do most of his bigger drops in the evening...just to make sure I don't get a good night's sleep
He is on Levemir which acts a bit different than Prozinc.Since insulin is a hormone it does not always follow the same pattern. I believe with Prozinc/PZI a first test at +2 might show whether there will be a bigger drop. However since every cat is different and each cat can "change the rules" the more data you have, the better you are able to see patterns and predict (somewhat) where Casey is going.
EDITED TO ADD:
The more data you have the better you can decide whether a sliding scale might work better for Casey as Sue was mentioning in an earlier post.

I agree with Mary Ann. Any info you can get would be helpful. For example, it may be that she went lower overnight and this morning's number is a bounce. Or it might be that she tends to be flatter overnight. (There are ways to influence this with food overnight)
Could you get a curve today? So get a number in the 3/4 range, then around 5 and 7 and one again around 9. That would let you see when she starts down, when the lowest point is and when she starts back up. All useful info to have.

I am doing a curve next weekend at vets request. Just started a new bottle of prozinc. I'll try and get some tests in tonight.
