Dear people!
I have a neighbor who has a diabetic cat. He is too cute! super cuddly and lovable. I've attached few pics at the end.
Oliver is only 6 years old he is on Caninsulin 4 units twice a day. Apparently we share the same vet (This guy and his large doses...)
Unfortunately, my neighbor can't take care of Oliver any longer... but he is too cute and too young to be put asleep. I already asked all my friends and no one wants this responsibility. I was wondering if the good folks in here might want to save his life.
My neighbor said she will drive him as far as needed (in Canada, Ontario or Quebec) and will provide a supply of insulin if someone has a heart for Oliver.

Looks good Tals. Why can't your friend care for him anymore?

ETA: My sister would love him, but I think Missouri is a little too far of a drive.

Thanks Rhonda. He is definitely precious. Some people just can't I guess. I don't know, I didn't get into details. I just don't want Oliver to die.
Any Canadians (or closer to Canada) that might be interested in a super fluffy and cuddly love seeking Oliver?
You save so many lives here people...lets find Oliver a loving home

Rhonda, it might be possible to work out a transport by driving or flying.

Data needed to figure out logistics:
What city and province of Canada is the cat in? What is the closest commercial airport to that?
What city in Missouri is your sister? What is the closest commercial airport to that?

What would plane fare run (in the cabin not as cargo!)?

A driving option if he is close enough to Detroit, MI: it is just over 3 hours for me to drive to there, pick him up and bring him down to I-70 in Dayton, OH.
So
??? to Detroit, MI
Detroit, MI to Dayton, OH

Dayton, OH - Indianapolis, IN
Indianapolis, IN to Effingham, IL
Effingham, IL to St Louis, MO
St Louis, MO to ???
If we can find a few members here to take 2-3 hour legs, we could relay him to MO. We might need an overnight partway there.

BJ, I just talked to my sister. She would love it, but with her husband having recently had a stroke, she doesn't feel like she could take on the responsibility. Sorry for getting hopes up.

@Chris & China thank you for your suggestion, I joined both FB pages, the one you recommended and the one Rhonda recommended. So far no replies.
@BJM what a wonderful soul you are.
Hopefully someone has a heart for Oliver.

Oliver is in Toronto Canada and I think I can convince her to drive as far as possible or to get him transported somehow. I will totally pitch in if money becomes an issue.
But I don't think its the case. She just can't have him anymore and time is not on our side, I'm afraid. Although I will definitely convince her to keep him safe if a good person comes along.

I'll help with costs if need be too Tals! I would take him in a heart beat if I didn't have a cranky old geriatric cat who still sees fit to make his displeasure with his younger siblings known from time to time. I just can't rock his world at this point.

I gave them the link here; most of the members are former members of the Relaxed Lantus forum we used to have.

@Tals I approved your admission into the Feline Diabetes group but haven't seen you post in there to tell people about your neighbors kitty. Posts from here don't automatically go into either the Feline Diabetes group or DCIN, so when you're approved to join, you should post in both groups and hopefully someone will see Oliver and offer him a home

I'm in the UK.. but just wanted to say Oliver looks ADORABLE! What a gorgeous boy. Hoping he finds a lovely home asap.

@Chris & China I sent a private message instead of posting on the wall and someone got back to me today asking for more details. Thank you! Its been only 24 hours, but I've received a number of "Wish I could have him" messages. Which is all very positive... I am more confident now that he might have a chance :)

@Tals , I just sent a PM off to another member in the US (no longer very active here) to see if she can help try to find a home for this little guy. I'm hoping she might be able to post on some rescue boards there to do a wider search for a new home. She and I were scheming together on how to "smuggle" another cat a few months ago!:woot:

I've cross-posted on Sugar Cat Support Group, where @MommaOfMuse is now.

Maybe add the Toronto, Canada part to the title of the post.
Hi BJM, I replied to Laura from Sugar cats support and added you in a post. I don't see my reply nor do I fully get how it works. I tagged you, so did you get the reply I sent Laura? I just wanted to make sure. thank you
Tals.

Thank you Linda!! Fingers crossed it works out.

would your friend be willing to deliver the cat to the Detroit area? I can post this on my facebook page. I grew up ithere and still have friends there.

DCIN has arranged transport of cats in and out of Canada numerous times so getting him posted on their page may help his chances tremendously and they usually help setting up transport too. If you post a pic with details on their wall, they will share it to the main feed.

Hi! Whats DCIN?

Diabetic Cats In Need....the other group I told you about on Facebook

If you post his story on both walls (DCIN and Feline Diabetes) it'll get shared to a MUCH larger audience than just sending PM's

If you just post a picture and the information to their wall, it will get out to people a lot quicker than waiting for the case manager. The case manager is just going to gather that information and post it when they have time. Anything in the sidebar usually gets shared that day.

Laura on Sugar Cat Support has indicated she only can help with transport.

Maybe try contacting vet schools and vet tech schools?
