Gracie's 6/19 Condo

Happy Lupita Friday :cat::cat::cat:

Our prayers go out to Carla today....fly free sweet Callie. She fought as long as she could to stay with her beloved mama. Many vines to all in need but special prayers to Tricia's Harvey.

I was holding the little Principessa this morning (like a baby, of course) when Lupita came in. LBG immediately sat up in my arms just a bit and put one paw out (which I thought perhaps meant she was waving to Lupita). Uh...wrong....:stop::stop::stop::stop: STOP RIGHT THERE, PITA!!! hsssssssssss. So much for "know thy cat". I turned around to walk into our bedroom with her and Gracie swiveled her precious little head around so she could keep an eye on Lupita.

Do NOT follow us, Pita!!! hssssssssss.

Poor Lupita....how lucky are we that she continues to come to work with that kind of abuse. ;);)

It's been so hot here that neither Gracie nor Tobey is into eating much. That's been a real problem with Gracie and her numbers. She seems absolutely fine but she's (and Tobey) have just been a bit more lethargic and a little less interested in fuds. Part of the problem with her, as well, is that I bought the Mauri Kangaroo for her but the calories per ounce are really low and so it takes a lot of food to get in her allotted calories so it fills her up; if she gets full early in cycle on that food, than it's hard to get her to eat the foods I need to manage her curve if she drops down. Not sure what we will do because she sure has been loving the kangaroo. If I give her something else, she eats half of it and then meh.....where's the roo???

Work continues on. One more month :nailbiting::nailbiting::eek::eek::eek: I am really sweating whether I will get this document done...it's slow going.

Thinking of you all. Have a great day.

Just what I needed to brighten my day - a Gracie condo. Lupita Friday, too! :):):):joyful:

I'm guessing the catio isn't getting a lot of use these days. June in Tucson - Bleah! We've had some 100s here lately, but we have humidity, so it seems worse than it did in AZ.

You just answered my question about whether I should try kangaroo on Minka. She needs only high calorie foods right now. Maybe we'll end up getting some if Cinco's itching turns out to be food-related. There aren't many proteins he hasn't had.

I would say I hope the month flies by, but I get the impression it's already going to fast for you - stressing to get everything completed. I will just say I hope you get your document done with time to spare.

Thanks for thinking of us. It helps. I don't think I could get through this without the people here. :bighug:

Yup - four paws up for kangaroo here too. It was on the menu rotation this morning. I know one person whose cat only jumps on the kitchen counter when roo is being prepared. I call it "mouse-upial".

I hear you on the heat. The whole west side of this continent is baking.

Thanks for the prayers. I hope Gracie and Tobey start feeling better and eat more for you. It's hard when it's that hot. I love Gracie's reaction to Lupita. I needed a good laugh. Thanks for the Lupita Friday update.

I hope you get your document finished in plenty of time.

Good one, Rhiannon!

Well darn it all but my mother fell again and this time it looks like she really injured her shoulder which is very bad because she didn't really have much of anything left in that shoulder joint as it was. So frustrating....we've talked to her over and over and over about not trying to get up by herself but she still does it. She told the physical therapist that she falls to get attention :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Oh my gosh, Marje, I'm sorry about your mom getting hurt again! How horribly frustrating:(. Vines to her...and you! It sounds like Gracie is keeping in line with what we expect on Lupita Friday:p. The never ending fuds dance...I hope you can find a nice balance:rolleyes::eek:

Good luck on the LAST work project! I'm sure you'll get it all done! The countdown is on:). Hugs to you and yours!:bighug::bighug:

Sorry about your mom falling and injuring herself, Marje. Prayers & vines to you both.
I get a kick out of the Gracie/Lupita saga. Some cats just don't like certain people, but Lupita never gives up, does she?
It's hot here in Calgary, unusually so. We're 3500 feet above sea level, so thankfully the nights cool off.

well... curses on falling.... that's not good.
my dggm had titanium shoulders... hips... pelvis... knees.... she would fracture with every fall.

maybe they can re-build her....
if this is going to be her new normal....

Oh, Marje, I'm so sorry to hear about your DM's fall. She did not need that and neither did you.

Gracie, good work! Keep it up.

((((Marje)))) Prayers and vines being sent in the truckloads for your mom! It's so hard when they underestimate how difficult getting up really is.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks for the Lupita Friday Condo too, one day Miss LBG will shock all of us and give Lupita some love !:smuggrin:

I love how hopeful you all are but Luptia has worked for us for seven years starting when Gracie was one. I actually think it's getting worse

Thank you for the wishes for my mom. They are keeping her overnight. No breaks but she has some very deep muscle injuries they said. She can't have any more surgeries.....she's had shoulders and knees replaced and her neck and beck operated on numerous times and the orthopedic surgeon said her shoulder and knee joints are so eaten away from arthritis and her previous injuries that there is not even anything to attach a new titanium joint to. That's why her falling and breaking a shoulder or knee is probably the start of a huge downhill spiral and a crisis. Thankfully, we aren't there. I really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. She sounded really good when I talked to her.

Thanks for the update Marje, more healing prayers being sent! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

uh oh, looks like you may have an interesting night tonight, be nice good girl Gracie!! :woot::woot:

More prayers for your Mom....I hope she's able to heal up quickly.

Gracie....you're "affection" for Lupita is such a hoot....silly girl! Lupita really is a gem!!

Hi Marje,
Sorry to miss your condo yesterday. We are very busy these days now that summer is here.
I'm sending good, strong wishes for your mom to recover, for your weather to get cooler, for Gracie and Tobey to eat in what sounds like absolutely awful climate conditions, and for you to get your paper finished in good time to proofread and submit. What a happy day that will be!!!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Thank you, @Tiger and Ruth for checking back in. Uh, yes....we had quite the pj party last night. I'm definitely dragging today and can't afford to....

@rhiannon and shadow well if her voice is any indication, she's still feeling "sassy". She will probably putlive me for all the stress she causes me but I know you understand that!

@suki & crystal thank you for stopping by! I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to drop in on you all but I hope Crystal is doing well and you are having a lovely summer.

@carfurby thank you, Carla, for thinking of us when I know you are dealing with such grief. :bighug::bighug:

@Amy&TrixieCat hi hope your dad is doing well and Trix is feeling spunky!

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) ive been thinking of you and Edward and wondering if any of your wonderful summer activities were curtailed by the escaped prisoners. Mike and I were just talking about the two of you over dinner Thursday night and hoped you were being careful.

Sorry to miss your condo yesterday! I was confused on the days of the week all week and forgot it was Lupita Friday!
Our Queen of Everything isn't eating all that great in the heat here either. We have been in the mid to high 80s for almost two weeks, and got to 92 F yesterday, our hottest day since summer 2013. No a/c here, so lots of lazing around. We get a little panicked when Tillie doesn't eat well, then remember she isn't diabetic, that was Zener!:( The balancing act of fuds and insulin can be a real challenge.
Sorry to see your mom fell again. LOVE what she said to the PT. Boy howdy, when I had patients who said things like that, I knew we would get along great. Gotta love that sense of humor. Hope she heals quicker than expected. :bighug:
