I'm so pissed right now. $300 vial. Like 1/8th of it used.
And now I have to try and figure out how to get him insulin for the morning. He's finally starting to do better and I don't want to disrupt his schedule. It's 10 pm and I have to be at work in the morning. Called the nearest 24/hr emergency vet and waiting to hear back if they even have any lantus in stock let alone if they can give me some. (sell me some)
UGHGHGHGHGHGGH. WHY are the vials glass?!? I'm going to wrap the next one in a bunch of rubberbands and make a homemade "vial protector"

So. Upset.

Might be able to take it to the pharmacy where you got it and maybe get a replacement.
Check the local Craigslist for some, or even post the need.

I used bungee wrap and wrapped the vial so it wouldn't break, at least not as easily, if my fumble fingers dropped it as they'd done already.

unfortunately the pharmacy just closed. It's 10 pm here. Biggest concern is having some for tomorrow morning shot.

Where are you?

And up to 12 hours of being too high is inconvenient, but you'll be able to get some and resume as normal.

online chat w/ duane reade (aka walgreens) said there's 3 refills and they found a 24 hour one. but I have to pay for brand new vial.
unbelievable. so sucky.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry, that is awful...I went to pick up the 10cc vial of Lantus and it was $274.00. My vet was nice enough to call around for me that day (because I work at night) and found that Target will break up a package of the 3cc Lantus pens and they are a little over $80.00, super easy to use and are covered with protector when you are not using it so that may put you at ease. This may also help you if you don't have another $300.00 to spend on another 10cc vial right now.
Not sure where you live but maybe someone on this forum lives around you and could let you borrow some for in the morning for your Edgar : ) Good luck and I hope your night gets better!

Can you get them to sell you a single Solar Pen instead of a vial for the refill? You draw it the same as a vial with the syringe, you don't need the tips. Then you'd only be dropping about $90 worth of insulin at a time and its in plastic ;)

It won't help tonight, but if all you can get is another vial tonight (or in the morning), this is one of the neatest idea's I've seen....using a crutch tip

The best thing you can do is start using the Lantus Solostar Pens....they're a little more expensive to start out with (if you can't find someone to sell you just one pen) but you can use every last drop and if you drop them on the floor, they're usually just fine!

Check your local Craigslist for Lantus for sale near you too. Just make sure you check it out before you buy it (you can get some great deals this way)

Hay your more than welcome my fur baby would be dead with out you guys so... I consider this passing on the blessings and your more than welcome

Oh my gosh everyone, thank you so much! I was already in bed asleep by the time many of you posted... But truly, thank you for your offers of help.

Luckily, I live in NYC, and there was a 24/hr pharmacy four blocks from me. Got the new Rx and was back home before 11.
