Cooper's last condo

Thanks to those of you who talked me out of giving an increase the other day, because we're planning for a decrease tonight.

Cooper had a lovely cycle last night of greens. He did hit 66 on the AT meter, but we easily got him back up with a little bit of 9% carbs and he surfed the rest of the night, and was back up to about 160 at AMPS. So we decided to hold off on a reduction this morning. DH was running late this morning, so got in a +3 test and Cooper had nose dived to 52!

So he gave him some 18% food and is retesting. He's going to work from home this morning until lunchtime to keep monitoring him. Then I will come home mid afternoon to check. Hopefully we will have him surfing by then.

Looks like he might be making his way down the dosing scale!

Got him back up to 160 at 3.5+ with 18% food. May have overreacted on carb %. Might should have tried 13% instead but that was scary low for him and he dropped sooo fast.

So many factors come in to play when it comes to steering numbers with food, including the learning curve for what works best for each individual kitty! Overall, though, better safe than sorry.

Don't forget that the effects of the food can wear off, so be sure to keep testing :):cat:.

Ditto everything that Amy said.

Remember that 160 is still in the normal range for an AT. So when he gives you a reduction number like he did last night, I would not shoot through what seems to be a bounce unless he's much higher on the AT....I'd take the reduction.
I think the higher PS is "normal" for Cooper....it seems he's getting less duration but that doesn't mean the dose isn't high enough. When he onsets...as he did today....he does it with flair!

I think every one of us here who has had a great string of numbers understands the fear of reducing and having them stall out. But...you can always go back up :)

He sure does! He wants everyone to know he means business! I guess I was worried about taking a reduction too soon since we just did a few days ago. But clearly he needs one right now and will be getting one tonight.

The most I will ever see Gracie have the effects from a higher dose is six cycles but ECID. However, with her, if I get a really low number ...like 30s on a human meter even in cycle 4 after the reduction....I reduce again because her depot still shouldn't be getting her into 30s four cycles after a reduction.

And I'd take the 0.25u reduction tonight if it were me ;)

WOW..Cooper is just screaming for a reduction isn't he?? Good catch on the 52...that must have been a bit of a shock you weren't expecting.

Come on Cooper...you have made your point...so just surf nicely for the rest of the day!

Yeah, totally wasn't expecting that and especially at +3! Sheesh.

Our kitties really like to keep us on our toes. Just when you think you have them figured out...they totally change the game plan. Good luck with the dive. Hopefully Cooper has had his fun for today and will just surf the blues for you!

Congratulations on the reduction!

China used to be "Queen of the cliff dive", but it looks like Cooper's giving her a run for her money!....LOL Back when she was doing it fairly often, I had a friend make this for me

Always thought I should go back and ask her to Photoshop a little parachute for her too...LOL

LOL! That picture is so fitting! How long did it take for her to stop diving so badly?

Wow! Cooper is definitely sending you a message. Thank goodness your DH was able to be home and remembered to test (mine forgets when he works from home ).

Congrats on the reducie. I'm so happy to see Cooper doing so well!

Cooper has really turned the corner. :D Congrats on the reduction.

With newly diagnosed kitties, we usually suggest that people take the reduction when earned, unless the cat has shown they can't hold the reduction. Except when shooting through the bounce, and it almost looks like Cooper has forgotten how to do that.

Yes, that is our plan from now on!
