Posting real quick before I dash off to work.

Purrdy has two more shots until he flies over to stay with me for six weeks. On that second shot he can't eat after +4 and he needs to be dropped off at the airport at +7. Given his unpredictability of late I'm wondering whether the safest bet might be to reduce the next two shots by a third to 4 units. If I recall correctly that's what @Wendy&Neko does on occasion when it's essential that Neko not drop too low.

Thoughts and other suggestions welcomed - thank you

@Voula - thanks for the syringe price info. I paid $25 so right in the middle :) Can you tell me where you get the $20 syringes from. That chemist, or one from the same chain may be convenient for mum. At the moment she's paying $40 from the vet.

Also - on his current schedule he will be 2 1/2 hours late for his shot (assuming plane is on time) at this end. It occured to me while driving to work that if we reduce his shots we may also be able to safely move his shot time forward a little (as it happens mum was 15 mins late this AM anyway) so that he can't eat from +3 (which would be as per a normal day), gets dropped off at +6 and is only 1 1/2 hours late for his shot on arrival

Hi Serryn. I just looked at your last condo and see you sent me an alert. I can't remember seeing it and I didn't answer it...sorry. I pay 29$ for a box of 100 at the chemist. I can't remember how much at the vet because I haven't bought from them for a couple of years but I think about the same, maybe a bit more.
Good luck with the flight ......that must be quite a few hours from +4 he can't eat until you get him. Is the flight 3 hours?
That must make it about almost shot time when you get him... ?
ETA I see you answered as I wrote:)

Thanks Bron - flight time is nearly 4 hours and he has to be dropped off a bit before that, don't have my notes on me but I think it's about 2 hours.

Thanks goodness Purrdy got over that stinky pinky! That has no place on his SS.

If Neko has to be safe for a day, I usually reduce for two cycles, however, not by 1/3 of a dose. I usually go down to a previous dose which I know isn't getting her low. Maybe 5.5 for Purrdy for the night before and day of travel?

I like Wendy's suggestion of 5.5u. He's seeing green on 6.0u, but nothing low or looking like he might go low on it. Probably 5.5u would be enough.

If he's high, you could give his shot as early at +10 after he arrives, helping you get back on schedule.

edited to add - i'm just suggesting this as a choice for you because you have lots of experience. New members shouldn't shoot at +10 without someone with experience helping them figure out if it would be ok. It's not a routine thing to do.

Hi Serryn. I got the $20 syringes from a community pharmacy called UFS pharmacy. www.ufs.com.au

You've gotten good dosing info....I just want to add safe travel prayers for Purrdy. What a lucky kitty, having beans who are willing to fly him about to be sure he is properly cared for!
