Hi All,

I've not posted in awhile as everything has been going very well for my little Chloe. She was diagnosed 4 months ago. Since that time she has gone from 2U insulin 2X/day to 1U in the evening. Her BGs have been pretty regular with little deviation; until now.

The evening BGs has stayed pretty much the same but Chloe's a.m. BG was 85 yesterday and 68 this morning. Her usual a.m. numbers are always in the low-mid 100s. Nothing has changed so I'm curious why this a.m. drop the past two mornings? I know these numbers are good; it's just the sudden change after two months.

Could this mean she doesn't need a full unit of insulin in the p.m. but only 1/2? I plan to check her nadir today out of curiosity. Her appetite is good (Fancy Feast Classics) and her weight is back up with only a slight loss at her last weigh-in 3 days ago.

I appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks!

Seems like Chole is heading to not require insulin. However, I can't tell without more BG data over time

Thank you for answering. Chloe's Nadir was 178 after her a.m. reading of 68. I'm wondering if I should 1/2 her p.m. dose from 1 unit to .5? I'll be doing a BG prior to her eveing meal. If it's off the charts could this be likened to the Symogyi Effect?? Which in that case would suggest a lower insulin dosage.

What insulin?
She might do better with 0.25 to 0.5 units am and pm, since no insulin lasts 24 hours in the cat.
We eyeball 0.25 units.
