How long before the insulin is due? You could wait 20 mins and test again. Hopefully someone will be here soon. I wouldn't feed yet. Wait for advice.

A little more info....she was at 247 at +2 last night. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well, and went to bed early. So the AMPS is the first test since 9 pm last night.

Can you update your SS please so whoever comes to help can see the latest BSs. Thanks.
Are you happy to stall or do you have to be somewhere soon?

Updated. I can stall for a little bit longer, but I have to be at work no later than 9:00, and I can't be sure that I can come home at lunch to check her.

Also, one of the two cats has had some loose stools in the last couple of days since the switch to the canned. I can't be sure which one, but they are both acting fine. If it is Shiloh, will that decrease her BG?

Doesn't look like Sienne has seen the alert.
Not sure on the loose stool....possibly it could.
I think if you have to go to work and possibly can't come back to test, it would be a good idea to skip the shot.
Better to be safe than risk her going low and you not being there. And it is a low preshot for A newly diagnosed cat.
Are you OK to skip the shot?

Since she is still dropping 20 minutes after AMPS, you might want to skip, or give a reduced dose. Since this is really the first time you are seeing these low numbers at PS, and you won't be home to test I would be inclined to skip this shot.

Ok. Good call. I would skip too.
If she has dropped to 56.... Have you any higher carb food you can give her to bring her up a bit higher before you go to work. I would also make sure you leave food out for her to eat during the day. Will the other cat eat it all or will there be some for Shiloh.?
If you can get back at lunch to check on her that would be good.

The other cat will probably eat most of it, but I will feed some gravy, then give them their regular breakfast. Hopefully with regular breakfast in them he won't be so inclined.

If you don't have to leave for work until 9:00 and you are going to skip, I wouldn't feed any higher carb food unless she drops below 50.

I would feed the regular food and then test again before you leave for work, and if she is lower than 56 after eating then definitely give gravy, otherwise she will probably be fine through the day, and you can probably expect a bounce later today anyway, and you don't want to make that bounce higher by adding gravy when it isn't necessary.

Thanks for the help, guys. I have put their regular food down, then took another can, spread it over a plate and put it in the freezer. Hopefully some of it will freeze before I have to leave. Will update my title to take out the stalling and note no AM shot.

Checked her again an hour after she ate. Got a 56 the first time, checked the other ear and got a 70. Unfortunately, I have to leave for work. I WILL come home at lunch and check her.

Sometimes if you don't get enough blood on the strip you might get a lower reading.

Since you skipped she should be just fine, but don't be surprised if you have a much higher number from a bounce when you get home.

Well, it's about 4 hours after I checked her and got the 56. She had breakfast, about 2 1/2 ounces of Friskies Pate, about a tablespoon of gravy from a Friskies Bits, and I left down another can of food, which is about 1/2 gone. Obviously I don't know which cat ate it. But her BG is 92. When should I expect a bounce?

I didn't see the alert. I was getting ready to leave for work.

Just a thought for consideration....
If you had decided to skip, LC food with the 56 was likely to be fine. The LC would bring numbers up and since there's no insulin on board, the only reason that numbers would continue to drop might be from left over action from the depot or if Shiloh's pancreas is responding to the food and producing its own insulin. If you had the time to feed LC and retest in 30 min., you would have had some sense of how Shiloh was responding.

I tested an hour after food and she had just barely gone up. I don't know if the tablespoon I gave of gravy did anything.

Rhonda, rather than starting a new condo, just delete some of the info in your subject line to fit in the new stuff. You could make it say something like this: 6/2 Shiloh AMBG 62. +1 52 +2 92 +4.5 199. Dose for PM?? The AMBG lets us know you did not shoot. The other numbers aren't important to know at this point - we can look at your ss for details. It would be helpful if you could delete the new condo before someone responds and continue with this one to avoid confusion. Hopefully this will get you some attention.

For the TR protocol, a reduction is earned when they go below 50. So I would stick to 2.75 units since Shiloh only got to 52 today.

Just remember that a bounce could take a few cycles to clear, so don't get too concerned if you are not seeing GREEN numbers right away.

I might try a +4 alarm. That way if she's still high enough, you can maximize the amount of sleep the rest of the night.
