I am very new to the group, but love all the information and advice I got here. Today is my dreaded curve day. Can't tell you how much I HATE doing the curves. The numbers today are crazy good?? At 6am her bg was 116. Of course I wasn't buying that number and repeated it...111. No insulin for kitty this morning :bighug:... just a big plate of canned food only. Repeated bg at 8am...115. So 10am is a little higher at 192, but nothing to stress about. Previous numbers were high 300's + with insulin.

I am also going to post a response I received from Purina about Friskies canned food. Lowest Friskies canned food is the mixed grill pate at 1.9. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the DM is 3? Although today's bg is using the DM, I will be transitioning Kira to Friskies after today's curve for comparison...and curiousity.

Spreading the food into mini-meals might keep her glucose more level and lower overall, helping her pancreas to recover.

Oh, and we calculate calories, not weight, from carbohydrates. There are 3.5 calories per gram for both protein and carbohydrate and 8.5 calories per gram for fat. There is a food list at Cat Info with many US foods that you can download and print for shopping reference in the US.
