Marshmellow her normal rambunctious self, won't stop chasing Lizzy around the house. Eating well this AM. I hopes she comes back from the missed shot quickly. I am wondering if I should have done a half dose yesterday instead of skipped? :confused: We'll she what happens. Got up, fed them and went back to bed, 4-5 hours of sleep gets old. Got an extra 3 today, and I feel like a new person!

Have a nice day everyone and safe surfing to all the kitties!

Morning Steve :coffee::coffee::coffee:

I cannot count the number of times I was in the shoes you were in yesterday, shoot reduced or skip. I always wished I had that crystal ball, and could tell what my actions and choices would do. We just never know. Marshmellow did recover well from the missed shot, and to have a mid yellow this morning isn't all that bad. Nice recovery little one!

Awesome on that extra sleep! I so remember that too. Way too many nights of little sleep. Mannie loved those late night dives, where I was still up with him well past the witching hour. ;) ah life with a sugar cat...

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well. and Marshmellow: surf well today! Think a nice steady low, maybe green, surf.

Nice recovery! I hear you on the lack of sleep. I rarely get more than 4 hours. Even when I stop testing by midnight it takes time to fall asleep and Max often stops meowing at 5 a.m. I bet Marshmellow hits blue today.

I think after seeing her response, I would consider shooting a half dose (green is still very rare for Marshy), and monitor, I don't like not having some insulin on board. Once she becomes more used to lower numbers, I would not have a problem shooting, as that's exactly what humans do also, their bodies are used to the insulin and need it. Hopefully she'll come down at an even pace (she loves to drop quick it appears) and maybe we can keep her in some nice numbers for a bit. Thank you both for the supporting words!

I eventually ended doing reduced doses too when things were iffy. He just bounced so badly when I didn't. Another thing that helped me alot too was to get a +10, or a +11, when I could, so I could tell if that PS BG was dropping or rising. It made guessing and shooting a green PS somewhat easier. I love the comment about how she likes to drop quickly. That was Mannie too. We used to all him the FDMB Olympic Diving Champion.

Enjoy your day today!

It did save me many a time. LOVE that +10/11. It became a mainstay for me, helped me control Mannie's wild rides sometimes. I used this all the time for the PM cycle, when I could in the AM one. I'm up way too early anyways, and just couldn't always make that 2/3 AM wake-up call. :rolleyes:

I so know on that sleep....

Just for hindsight and future circumstances:

First..Michelle is right that the +10/+11 tests are helpful. If you haven't read the section in this post on Being Data Ready, it's a great one.

Second...when you get w low PS that you aren't comfortable shooting yet (and the above sticky also addresses that), then don't feed her, stall for 30 minutes, retest. If she's on the rise, shoot the full dose. At the 86 yesterday, even if you had fed LC food already, I would have had you shoot the full dose and then work back slowly to your regular shot time.

If we stall, we typically shoot the full dose as a late shot can have the same effect as a dose reduction.

Have a great day, Steve.
