(sigh) ...our poor baby. She's so very congested. She's on clavamox and hasn't missed a dose. I gave her a drop of saline in her right nostril and she's finally eating a bit of food on her own without being force fed (last option). She's only eating a bite or two at a time so I'll have to monitor her more often today so I can be ready if she starts falling too fast. The last thing we need is to fight a bounce come Monday. I have her in her sauna and I've added a bit of ACV and fresh crushed rosemary to the steam. I've not enclosed the crate with her curtains so she's getting the steam but it's not enveloping her. She facing into it at the moment (her own positioning) so maybe it's bringing her some relief. I've elevated her food so she doesn't need to lean over as far and maybe her nose will stay a little more open while she eats. Her crate is nice and warm with moist air and an elevated sleeping area (like a ramp) with a heating pad. I wish I could climb in there myself.

And btw, I absolutely hate this shot time ... messes me up being mid day like it is. For some reason, my brain just won't let me accurately do the math in my head to get the + 2, 3, 4, etc. Using fingers and toes to help count.

I'd like to say that I had a good night's sleep .... but that didn't happen. She's now had all of her meds, I gave her a shot of B12 and hopefully we'll be able to get her to eat enough to carry her a few hours and I'll try and catch a cat nap myself. DH did all of the heavy lifting yesterday so he's naturally sleeping hard like a rock. Is it wrong that I am envious of that and want to smother him with my pillow? (JK.)

Oh, there is now an aspiring great vet (great vet has a young vet helping while he's away). Well, Great Vet prescribed Zoey lactulose syrup for her stool. She hates the stuff. Like, ultimate cat fit hates the stuff. If it's in her food and she smells it, she will never eat that flavor of food again. Ever. Aspiring great vet said any kind of oil added to her food would also be beneficial; Zoey LOVES coconut oil and I had reduced the amount we were giving to her due to her weight issues (which are probably now not issues) so I have been feeding her as much as she wants at test times these last two days. Hopefully that will help take care of the impacted stools and maybe help her heal on the inside.

Of course, I run this stuff by all of y'all because if there's any history of any sort with anything, you guys have probably read it, experienced it, or researched it. I value all of the opinions and feedback and know that if there's anything that throws a red flag someone will make sure we see it waving so we're alert and can ask the right questions. Of course, we do our own research before we try things but admittedly experience trumps research.

Going to try and catch a couple of hours of rest and will test her at +2 to see how she's doing.

Vines of healing and blessings being sent to all.

Happy Sunday!

That's what her vaporizer is doing now in her crate. I see I said sauna ... I should have said steam room. Pillows on top are from the bed that we're still sitting (me)/sleeping (dh) in; nothing to do with Zoe and far away from DH so no danger there, either. :p

I must say my first reaction to the pictures is how darn cute she looks in her onsie :)

Sending lots of healing vines for Ms. Zoey....she sure has wonderful beans taking care of her....

(((Rose))))) Oh my goodness!! Those pictures of Zoey are adorable! I had to go back and read your last condos, whew!!! No wonder your DH is in such deep sleep! But I can relate, when you can't sleep but he can, ..mine snores too, so it's extra annoying..:oops::oops: I so hope you are sleeping as I type this; I fear this will wear you down, you have been through so much! But it warms my heart to read your posts, that little Zoey is such a fighter!!

Is there a reason your vet didn't recommend Miralax instead of the nasty tasting Lactulose? I apologize if you have explained this previously, I may have missed reading it? Miralax is tasteless, Tiger has no idea it is in her food.

Sending truckloads of continuing healing vines and appetite vines for Zoey; and beneficial sleep for you and DH!

Thanks, Molly!

Oh, Ruth, I so wish I was sleeping! ... but it's daylight outside. Try as I might, someone who is used to being up at 4:00 ish every morning cannot sleep when it is daylight outside. Then of course, there's that snoring thing going on. I thought I would annoy him (you know what they say, misery loves company) by sitting in bed and doing some work while eating crunchy potato chips ... but nope. Hasn't missed a beat with the snoring. LOL On the Miralax .. we were using that for a while during her petechia episodes. We started eliminating things and then adding them back and when we added the Miralax back, she had a burst spread across her belly. We could only assume it was the Miralax although the vet said he'd never experienced that before. She's on the Cushings meds now so I've actually thought about giving her a small amount to see if she has any reaction to it again. She had used it successfully for several weeks so there's really no conclusive evidence that it was the Miralax and not just something that happened to happen.

I'm sure we'll be calling the Great Vet tomorrow about Zoe's congestion to see if there's something else we can do for her. I'll probably run the Miralax by him then.

You guys are amazing! So is Zoey. And, yes, she is absolutely adorable in her onesie. Great set up for her with the vaporizer. Sure sending tons of vines for some relief from the congestion and lots of help from the Cushing's med.

Light. Prayers. And sleep thoughts to the mamabean.

Marilyn and Polly

(((Rose))) You are doing a fantastic job of being a kitty doctor/nurse. I am sure that Zoey could not have gotten the high quality care she is getting at ANY animal hospital. When my Tuxie had bad congestion I used the vaporizer and set it up by his favourite sleeping spot. He used to turn his head towards it, same way Zoey is, so I think it is bringing some relief. I couldn't see whether it was recommended in previous threads to use L-lysine to help with the URI and congestion. I don;t know whether this would mess with her other meds, but I used it the few times Tuxie had sneezing/congestion and it seems to help. When he had his first URI the vet sold me a gel paste preparation made specifically for cats...with the price tag to match. Since then I buy a good quality from the health food store, no additives and just open the capsule and put it in his food. Anyone have any thoughts on whether this may help little Zoey ????

L-Lysine. I totally forgot about that one. Yes, I've used it before in a foster cat years back for URI (with vet's blessing). I'll run and get some and add it. Most excellent idea! Thanks!

Okay. New experience: DH went to get a bulb syringe so we could suction Zoe's nose. He came home with some new and improved contraption (all they had, he claims) with a hose connected to it and a mouthpiece. Yep... I just sucked snot from my cat's nose. Is this really what new parents are using for their kids? Kind of makes me want to throw up a little.

When my sister and her husband were registering we saw that....it sounds just so gross.....I am not sure I could bring myself to do that...you certainly are the best momma ever!

Oh Rose!!! :bighug: your story is just amazing. I think you must win the award for most dedicated, amazing go to the ends of the earth mamabean ever!. And Zoey in her onesie is devastatingly cute! I can't hear myself type over DH's snoring, but that's ok, he deserves his rest. Now it's your turn!!! What a team at casa de Zoey!

I agree you all are amazing. I hope she's starting to breathe easier. Poor sweet girl but she is rockin' those jammies.

Have you ever seen the Feline Constipation website?

Sending more healing vines...keep up that great sense of humor.

You definitely win the prize for most dedicated, selfless beans on the planet. I've never thought of sucking the snot out of my cat's nose, but there have been times when it probably would have helped Sasha. Now I'll have to go look for this contraption. I say again, your DH is a definite keeper!

All my kitties are on L-lysine, as Cinco has Feline Herpes Virus. It doesn't seem to stop Sasha's allergies from getting bad, but perhaps it is heading off any viruses that would otherwise attack my herd. All the vets I have asked about it say it's a good idea, especially when your kitties' immune systems have been compromised by chemo.

I hate the way my DH can fall asleep before his head hits the pillow. He doesn't snore anymore, since we got him a C-Pap, but it still drives me crazy that he just takes off his clothes, crawls in bed and snap! He's asleep!!!

Sending tons of healing vines for Zoey and sleep vines for you. :bighug:
