YESTERDAY

Had unexpected green numbers yesterday afternoon. I had thought with the pink start we were in for another bounce. She did drop at +3 and +4 but then I fell asleep and awoke to greens which was a lovely surprise.
Last night after a PMPS 220 she bounced to 288 so I had a good night's sleep.
This morning she is on the way down again.
To me, it looks like her bounces are not going as high and are clearing quickly (anti jinx). Hope it continues.

Below is a photo of my mum and dad kookaburra (mum is keeping an eye on Sheba who is at the door). Some of their young are in the tree behind. There are about 14 in the family group and they come every afternoon about dusk for a chicken neck each which they swallow whole. They have large strong beaks and they catch their prey (snakes, lizards, insects, mice, rats etc) and beat it against a branch to kill it (including the chicken necks). They are very friendly and will steal BBQ food from your plate if you are eating outside and not careful.

Those bounces do seem to be turning around rather faster. And no big drops today. :)

What a great photo of the kookaburra. 14 in the family group!

What a cool picture!! I don't think I'd want to get on their bad side....those bills look like they could do some pretty significant damage!

Nice that Sheba is clearing her bounces faster too...now we just have to convince her that she doesn't need to bounce in the first place!

Hi Bron, looks like you might see some greens soon, paws crossed for you. Great picture of your extended family, they look like they would give Sheba a nasty peck if she got too close!

The kookaburra beaks are very strong. I have been nipped when they take the chicken neck from my hand sometimes. They don't mean to hurt you as they are very friendly, but they are impatient for the food. With most of them I put the food on the railing of the balcony and they position themselves on the roof next door, then swoop down and grab the neck as they fly past, not stopping for a second. They have amazing eyesight and can spot me if I enter a room on that side of the house from the trees across the road. I don't have to even be near the window. During the breeding season, the mother is there off and on all day looking for food.
Sheba would definitely come off second best if she tried to catch one. Apart from the beak, they are large birds. I have seen her rush at one that landed on the floor of the balcony but it was all show.

Thanks Carla, Wendy, Chris and Suki for checking up on us.

I was just going to say surf safely Sheba but see she's bouncing again :( how frustrating. hope it's a quick boing and back down soon.

We have resident bird families too, but nothing exotic, just starlings, redshanks, and some collared doves. Keeps the cats amused watching the comings and goings but we have to be on alert for fledgings. Here's a pic of Tiggy - ever hopefull - the nestbox was empty and she managed to get up there all by herself, naughtly girl!

Very nice, Sheba!!
Thanks for the pic of the kookaburra. I always wondered what they looked like -- all I can remember about them is the little song we used to sing as children about the kookaburra sitting on the old gum tree (at least I think that was the line!). Not sure why we even learned that song since there are no kookaburras here. :)
