Yesterday's Give an Ear a Break Condo

Yes, it's confirmed. My cats are trying to kill me. :eek: DH called and woke me at +3.75 this morning, to tell me Cinco was only at 105 at preshot and he'd shaved off a drop (:facepalm:). I told him he shouldn't have done that, but SHOULD have called me earlier to warn me! I went down and fed and tested him and he was at 36!

I tested again, fresh drop, and got the exact same thing. He wasn't kidding. I got out the karo and accidentally gave him a little more than I intended, so he shot up at +4.5. Question is: we just reduced to 1.0 yesterday, but he went to 36 on 1.0 minus a drop this morning. Do I take another reduction or consider it an anomaly and wait to see if he drops again??? Shooting DH is also an option currently on the table (had he called earlier, I might have been able to head off the drop).

Minka is back to crappy appy and uncomfortable. :( She doesn't look as miserable as she did Friday night, but definitely not comfy. I gave her some infant gas drops a while ago. I'm warming her fluids now, and if she won't eat while we're doing them, I'm thinking I'll try some SEB. Bupe would be my last resort. How I wish she could tell me what she's feeling! :banghead:

Sasha got an Ondansetron dose first thing this morning. She ate about half her breakfast on the first attempt, and just polished off the rest for me. I think we will continue this experiment for a while and see if it helps her eat better in the morning.

We have a big, old papasan chair in our room, and the kitties have always loved sleeping in it. We got a new cushion a couple of years ago and I put the old one on the guest room bed for them. Sasha and Minka, in particular, like to nap there. Sometime last night or this morning, someone peed on it! It went all the way through to the bedspread underneath. I don't know who it was, but my guess would be either Harvey or Minka, as Sasha hasn't been jumping up there lately. DH is going to throw it out, as I don't think there's a way to save it, but I'm more concerned with who and why.

Well, gotta go get Minka for her squids. Paws crossed she'll be ready to eat. I'm getting out some turkey to try, too.

Cinco, is probably still working of the 1.25u depot. It is up to you whether you take another reduction, but if it were me I would try to hold the 1.0u dose, unless you won't be able to be around to test and treat a low.
 
I agree he's probably still working on the 1.25 depot so I'd hold the dose for now....of course if he's really determined to earn another reduction, I'm sure he'll make sure you know it! Hate it when they drop into the 30's since we all know that's TOO low and it makes the decisions we have to make that much harder

Phooey on Minka...she'd been doing so much better!! Poor little girl....I know you have to be so worried about her and just want her to feel better!

OK now Cinco....better listen up...Killing off the mamabean really isn't in your best interest!! Better stay in some safe numbers for awhile and let her recuperate from scaring her half to death!

As for shooting the DH...well...I think there are laws against that, but I totally understand how you feel.....LOL
 
Thanks, Tina and Chris. I kind of knew that, but wanted to get some feedback. I definitely overcarbed him - the karo came out in a blob instead of a drop! :rolleyes: I was just so shocked to see such a low number! I just hope we don't have a nasty bounce now (anti-jinx)!

I got about 1/3 of a jar of baby food into Minka (with a lot of interference from Sasha). I wanted to get the rest of her meds into her, but can't do that on an empty stomach. I'll wait a couple of hours and give her some SEB if she isn't feeling better. I just wish I knew what it is - gas, pain, upset tummy? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I had to chuckle at the option of shooting DH... Jeesh, 36, Cinco, you do like to keep things interesting, in a Chinese proverb kind of way. :nailbiting: Vines all around for Sasha and Minka. Hope the rogue pee is a one off incident. Hugs to you, Tricia.

Wow on that 36. I'd say it could be the depot too. I hope Cinco doesn't bounce tonight. I'm sorry about Minka. I hope her appy gets better. Hopefully the pee was just a one time thing. Sending prayers and hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I hope Minka is feeling better tonight, you must be a stress ball. Tell DH you need a present of a spa day? Or a few hours massage...:p

I agree, you are one amazing bean. I so badly wish they could talk and tell us what they're feeling. I have been feeling that way with Billie lately, thinking she's uncomfortable but not knowing precisely how and therefore not knowing what to give her to help her feel better. I hope Minka's appy perked up tonight. Sending lots and lots of vines. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Cinco has found the lagoon again. Mama is pleased.
 
Poor Minka and poor you! I hope Minka turns it around and starts feeling better and eating tomorrow.

Thanks, Elise. Yes, it is stressing me out. However, she is looking much better and eating the baby food with enthusiasm. Now if I could just get her to eat CAT food! :rolleyes:

When Max eats only baby food I know he is nauseous. I wonder if maybe she has a touch of pancreatitis? I hope whatever it is passes. :bighug:
 
Tiffany got it after getting lymphoma. You wouldn't treat much differently but it would explain her symptoms. Does she get B12?
 
Lol on shooting DH!

I have a theory on the pee - I think one of your furry ones was sleeping peacefully minding their own business when they were startled awake but a loud screech of '36' that frightened them so much they had a little accident. On that theory we can chalk that one up to DH too ;)

Minka you are all grown up now, please eat your grown up foods, please
