APLHA TRAK2 PET METER

Yesterday: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...-are-really-out-of-usual.137218/#post-1415167

I increased Tuxie's dose .25 units this morning. By +6 he had dropped about 360 points. This may be his nadir time or it could be in another hour as it varies.

I was going to give Tuxie some medium carb to smooth out the drop but accidently gave a Tbsp of HC so that will mess up his numbers. Also Tuxie was having a bit of trouble with his poops this morning, then finally managed to get a decent, soft, but not too soft "deposit" I thought he had pooped yesterday morning since it was there when I checked the LB after he came up . However it could also have been his sister Maxie, who was down just before him.

Hopefully this drop won't cause too much bouncing.

Nice nadir. Hopefully the drop won't lead to a bounce. It looks like a steady decline so fingers and paws crossed.

2.5 hrs = 200 points - yeah, probably enough to set off another bounce. But maybe he'll surf now for a while and in the meantime, just enjoy having him in normal numbers.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd give him a couple of teaspoons of his regular low carb food to see if it will help him surf.

Well now his +7.5 is at 58...that is 1 1/2 hours after giving a Tbsp of HC food by mistake. I gave him more HC food and tsp of syrup. Hopefully he has reached his low for this cycle. Maybe I should not have done the dose increase this morning???

I just posted at the same time as you...he has dropped further after having HC food 1 1/2 hours ago so I gave him more HC and tsp syrup. This is too low especially on an AT2 pet meter

The reduction point for AT is 68, so yes, looks like 6.0 might be a bit too much at this time. Paws crossed this gets him kick started into spending more time in normal numbers.

Test again in 1/2 hour to make sure that HC put the brakes on.

He's not in danger, Mary Ann. You're doing fine. Just a teaspoon of high carb gravy or a couple of drops of syrup and recheck in 20ish minutes. You don't want to overcarb him and send him high if you can avoid it. The longer he spends in the 68-100ish range the better. And yes, I know you're using an AT.

Yes, he's also earned a decrease. I wouldn't say you shouldn't have increased - everything said he needed it. But now he's saying he doesn't need it. Cats like to mess with us that way.

Thanks Julie...after the last couple of days of blah numbers he decides to pull this on me...sheesh!!! At least I am not going into major panic mode....all of you have helped me learn to deal with unexpected numbers :) :)

I will recheck shortly...thanks for the help!!

Okay...+8 is 119 1/2 hr after HC and tsp syrup. Tuxie should have hit his lowest nadir by now, so I will see what he decides to do with the rest of the day.

Thanks Julie and Wendy for your help!
