Well it looks like I should have no problems going to bed tonight. I feel like I let Bud down. I feel that bounce this morning was from the party mix treats. I'm kicking myself for ruining his streak of better numbers. If that wasn't bad enough, my husband had a hot fudge sundae after dinner and then left it on the table. Bud helped himself to licking the bowl clean. Uuuuuugggghhhhh! :( sorry Bud! Hope we are back on track tomorrow! And hope the decrease this morning doesn't turn out to be a mistake.

nom nom nom ice cream!

when you reduce the dose because you can't monitor, just go back to it with the next shot. I'd return to 0.75u in the morning to help him get back on track. I see the 72 that caused the decrease to 0.75u, but i don't see any reason to have dropped it to 0.5u except that you were (i think) concerned about monitoring.

I suspect the bounce is due more to the fast drop into the blues. Of course, ice cream didn't help but... we have carb-o-holies for kitties!

Just an FYI, I hope that Bud wasn't licking up any of the hot fudge sauce. Chocolate isn't good for kitties. (Note to DH: put dishes in the sink and fill them with water.)

I reduced this morning because last night Bud was 229 at +2 and even after feeding 15% carbs, he dropped to 92 in just an hour and a half. I intervened with some 20% at that point just to get some sleep. I think he would've dropped below 90 had I not fed all those carbs. And yes, part of the reason I reduced was because I wouldn't be home to monitor. I'm loving the better numbers, but how quick he gets there sometimes scares me. I have no problem with going back up tomorrow though. 0.75 seemed to be working great for him.

Bud did get some of the hot fudge, I'm sure. I know he wasn't there long as I just went down the hall to throw some clothes on my bed and caught him on my way back. He's just chilling on my lap. Hope there are no ill effects. And hubby knows I am not happy with what happened lol! I thought it was my daughter who left it at first.... :rolleyes:

considering that we give a few drops of a sugar syrup (corn, honey, maple) to increase blood sugar if it's low, I wouldn't think it would take much ice cream sundae to increase his BGs.

ah, i didn't see the test results in the comments. You can stack them in the regular test results cell and then manually color the cell using the little icon that looks like a beaker that is tipped, just above the spreadsheet. He may have gone below 90, but usually we like to actually see it. Although i think you're probably right that he was headed there . . . so it's up to you if you want to go back to the 0.75u a little longer or leave him at 0.5u and see if these highs come down once the bounce clears.

I'm trying to figure out how I want to format my spreadsheet for any tests not right on the hour. I'm not that OCD, but with this spreadsheet I am. LOL I can't stand uneven columns and rows... Plus editing on the iPad is not ideal and I just haven't taken the time at work to try and mess with it on my lunch because I'm too busy browsing the forum then. Lol!

I put the info in the cells like this:

3=100
3.5=85
3.75=80

Or whatever. I used .25, .5, .75 for quarter hours and .3 and .6 for the 20 or 40 minutes past the test hour.'

I also widened the cells when we started and decreased the font size when needed to keep all the info available.

I can appreciate wanting it to have it look good - i like things all organized too. You should see my kitchen. ;)

In this case, function is really important though. Wouldn't want anyone else to make my mistake when it was important and miss test info in the comments.

367 at +3! Once again proving carbs are no match for him! Dropped 153 points in 2 hours. So I've actually been seeing better numbers with Bud since I increased his carbs at the beginning of the cycle. I'm torn between going with 0.75 and staying with the higher carbs, or staying at 0.5 and trying to go back to all low carb. Maybe I should just stick with what's been working, huh? That 367 is giving me hope he will clear this bounce quick. :)

@julie & punkin (ga) i would love to see your kitchen!!! :) I like getting organizational ideas from others.
your spreadsheet gives me some ideas. I want to start a new one with just the Levemir data. I like the stacking idea! I'll have to play around with it on company time. ;)

Well, Bud... you sure did give your beans a good dose of frustration. Hope you enjoyed that ice cream 'cause I've got a feeling you won't be getting anymore, any time soon. And, nice recovery on those PM numbers! I think you're on to something. Good job!

Stacy, I can't tell you how many times my DH has left his ice cream bowl sitting on the hearth, totally unattended. It usually happens when I'm off doing something and can't supervise. What are the chances that Hannah just ignores it?? Yeah, that's what I thought, too. I've tried and tried to convince DH that he's got to get out of his chair and put it upside down in the kitchen sink, but to no avail. Last night, shared your experience with him, and guess what? I think he actually paid attention.o_O

Hope you had a wonderful, well-deserved night's sleep. It's been quite a week for you and Bud, but you're making progress. :cat:

Bud was 329 this morning. I'll take it! +2 was 370. A few weeks ago I switched to giving the injections along his side. This morning he was so fidgety I went for the neck. Wonder if that's just a coincidence on the slower absorption today? 220 at +5.5 so not too shabby. I really feel like we're on to something here, too. I sure hope so!! I'm really hoping to have him regulated by July or so when we will probably go out of town for a couple nights.

I hope Buds experience taught your husband a lesson! Lol, that's great if it did. I see you're getting some great numbers today. Hurray!

Well, we started out pretty good, but the AM dose didn't last long enough... or something. She also had her once-a-week episode of beagle appetite, so that might have factored in, as well. Anyhooooo, now we're anticipating tonight's bounce. Looked for an emoticon that would be a proper fit for that, but there isn't one. :facepalm:

LOL, I'm waiting for DH's evening dish of ice cream to see where the bowl ends up. Any bets?

Oh we so need an emoticon of a cat on a pogo stick! Lol! How do we lobby for that?!

I'm going to have faith that DH will put the ice cream bowl in the sink tonight. Let's just hope he rinses it, too! Lol

Poor Bud, who doesn't like ice cream! My DH used to leave his bowl of Greek's God's Yogurt around- guess who was there to lick up all those sugar filled carbs! This did terrible things for Tiger's BG! :rolleyes: He doesn't dare leave anything around now. :smuggrin: Hoping for a nice gentle slid for Bud!

So I'm afraid we might experience a setback with Bud, but it is what it is. My daughter is super sick with pneumonia in the hospital right now and I'm staying with her so he's going to miss some shots.

Sorry to hear your daughter is so sick Stacy!!

You do what you have to do....right now, she's your #1 priority....Bud will get back on track when things settle down.

Sending lots of vines and virtual hugs for you and your daughter :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh, Stacy... I am so sorry to hear this. I'm worried about all of you and wishing I could be there to at least help with Bud. But you must tend to your daughter right now... first things first. Bud will be okay until you get back to him. I'm sending prayers and good wishes your way. Please keep us posted on how it's going. Hugs to all of you.

so sorry your daughter is ill. I hope she's doing ok with the pneumonia. I agree - she's your first priority.

One thought - you can give Bud's shot late, too, at more than a 12 hr interval, and at whatever point you go home. I'd reduce it slightly, say to 0.5u since he won't be tested. That would at least get some insulin into him.

Take care - and let us know how your daughter is. How old is she?

Skylar is 9. I took her to urgicare this morning and they transported her to Children's hospital by ambulance. I've been gone from the house since about 10 this morning and am staying the night with her so I won't even be home tonight. My husband went home and fed the cats and will feed them in the morning but he has no interest in testing or injections. I might run home tomorrow afternoon so he might get a shot then, and 0.5 sounds good since I can't monitor as I'm thinking she will be staying in the hospital Monday night, too.

Skylar's oxygen level was hanging around 90 all day and is up to around 93 now, so I think she's heading in the right direction. Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and prayers! Means a lot to me.
