    Hi,

Just wanted to share something that really helped me financially...maybe everyone already knows about this, but I literally just used it a couple weeks ago.

Talk about sticker shock when I was switching Talula from Novolin to Lantus!

My vet told me to go to this site

    https://www.lantus.com/sign-up/offers

I signed up and they immediately emailed me a savings card. I first went to CVS and the script was still almost $300, but the coupon did take $45 off. I then went to Walmart and they were able to fill it for $125!!! It was for 5 Solo Star pens (neither pharmacy would break the pack and sell me just one) but $125 for 5 was fine by me!

    Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the info! My bill was ~$290 at Walgreens and i'm eager to decrease that bill.

yes thanks for this! silly question perhaps, but did you select Type II as type of diabetes when filling out the request for the card? I assume that is most often what kitties have..

Type 2 is correct. Make sure the age is 18 and write down the date you select or you will be denied. They can't know it's for a cat when you get the coupon. Of course the pharmacy will know and that is the pet that requires luck. Some won't fill it using a coupon for a cat.

The problem is the script will be written for your cat and not you. Fill out another one.

I wasn't sure either, but figured since I was the one paying for it, I would use my info.

I picked "other" whenever it was an option because I wasn't trying to lie and say I had diabetes, but I also couldn't find anywhere in their terms or rules where it said you couldn't use the discount for a cat. Neither pharmacy had an issue with the discrepancy between the discount card being in my name and the script in Talula's name.

The only issue was that the pharmacist put Talula's DOB instead of mine when trying to process the coupon so it didn't go through at first. Once she changed the DOB to mine it was fine. So, in my experience, when processing the discount, as long as the pharmacist used the exact same info I used when I applied for the card, it was fine.

I'm sure every pharmacy and pharmacist is different though, but it's definitely worth a shot! I sincerely doubt the Lantus police are gonna come knocking at my door anytime soon! ;) I have found that pharmacists that work the overnight shift at 24 hour places are a lot more chill and cool about stuff and willing to help!

The issue isn't anyone coming after you but rather many pharmacists refuse to use it for a cat. I did call Target and was told if it went through they didn't care but others have not been allowed to use it so I think we just need to be prepared to shop around. I ordered mine from Canada but might try the coupon next time. I'm glad it worked for you.

When Sabrina was originally diagnosed 2 -1/2yrs ago I tried to use the Lantus savings card & not one of the pharmacies in my area would honor it because it was for a cat......very frustrating!!! I just ordered my new supply of 5 pens through Marks Marine Pharmacy in Canada, which other members have recommended. I was thoroughly satisfied with my purchase....$133.75 + 25.00 international shipping.......AAA+

I remember years ago, a coupon went out for 5 free pens of Lantus and everyone went out and got their free Lantus, for their cats. Those were the days :)
