Trix seems to be feeling quite good today...happy appy, snuggles, basking in the sunshine (now that heating vent season is almost over), bright-eyed, and spunky. She had a good night last night, too...trotting around, running up the stairs, attempting to "break in" to the master bedroom. Anti-jinx on all of it!

Update from my Dad's visit with the pulmonary doc:
No real new news or information. Once again my Dad baffles the doctors. The CT scan from 9 days ago shows "significant" inflammation, but my Dad's symptoms (or lack there of) doesn't coincide with what the picture shows. He has no breathing problems and barely coughs - and the cough he did have has improved since earlier this week. The only cough he's had through all of this is when he takes a very deep breath - that was making him cough. That was still there a bit on Tuesday when we were at the oncologist's office, but now even that is gone. This pulmonary guy didn't have any great insights into whether or not the chemo could be causing this inflammation - basically he said without a biopsy, there is no way to know for sure (and even a biopsy might not answer the question). Basically, it makes no sense to this doctor. Yay.

The doc wanted to put my Dad on prednisone, but my Dad is not keen on that idea at all. His Dad was on prednisone for a long time, and the long-term side-effects were very problematic for him (osteoporosis which led to a broken leg and repeated lung infections until that was what finally took him down), and my Dad just doesn't want to go down that road unless absolutely necessary. So the compromise was that he get an x-ray yesterday and another x-ray next Friday, then go back again next Friday after the morning x-ray to see if there is any change in either direction.

I'm starting to wonder if his lungs were just always like this and we never knew it because he's never had a CT scan of them before. He's always commented that he's never had any breathing issues, but he has always had issues with lung capacity. Or maybe it is chemo/levaquin toxicity that is resolving.

So the waiting continues.

Overall he is not 100%, but he is much better than he was. He's not stumbling any more (hasn't been stumbling since stopping the ABlast week), his appetite is slowly coming back, he's definitely with it now, although he still tires easily - but not like when he was on the levaquin. He still has to gain a good 10lbs or so, but it looks like he actually gained about a pound since the oncologist's visit on Tuesday (and that was up a pound from the week before).

It's a work day....time to get moving. Have a great day, L&LL!

Amy

Overall, a positive report today. Trixie is looking fabulous!!!! :D:D:D What a good girl to not cause Mama any extra stress right now.

I'm glad the news is relatively good for your DF. You know you can't really expect big improvements at this point - there is just too much in play. So view every little improvement as a victory and watch for the next one! Sending more healing vines and prayers.

A super report, Amy. Trix...fantastic. Your dad...improvement. Hang on that. It's important and headed in the right direction.

Did you ask the docs about this?

Did you ask the docs about this?

This question is lined up for next Friday. With this past Friday being the first appointment with the pulmonary guy, there really wasn't enough data for him to answer that question. By next Friday, we'll have two sets of x-rays that are a week apart...so we'll see. It is frustrating to still not have any answers, but yes, it is great that my Dad is doing better!

Following Wendy's lead, to honor Mannie, here is a picture of Trix and her nanner. This was her calendar shot from 2012 (she was in June).....nuthin' like a good nanner!!

Awwwwww..... we are so loving all the pics of kitties and nanners today in memory of our legendary Mannie. Glad to see good reports on your family, furry and otherwise.
