Good morning so far, I was very surprised with big dip from 461 AMPS to BG=80 after +6.45. I gave him 1oz of HC food (FF 23% carbs). Will test again. How about PM dose ???

Hi again. I think I should have answered you here so as not to confuse anyone. If you have more questions, ask here.

Thank you and lot of hugs for sweet Max. He is very lucky that he has loving and caring mom. I am very grateful for your input.
Gus had normal BM this morning but since he gets onda I still have to watch that. After we overcome current crisis I wanted to try digestive enzymes that dr. Backer recommends (link below).

Today I got another surprise with big BG drop from 461 to 80 @+6.45. So I am glad that his BG is getting into normal range but it was so rapid. He basically was camping by the food ball asking for more food. He eats about 1oz at a time. Hopefully it is a sign that he is recovering.

You don't want to use digestive enzymes at this point unless Gus has EPI and not absorbing the nutrients from his food. There is a blood panel to test for it. His stool would be very like tan in color. This is your first experience with pancreatitis and his fPL wasn't even that elevated. By comparison, Max has had readings in the 20's and as high as over 50. I think the BG drop is another indication that he feels better. Are you giving the ondansetron twice a day? It works for 8-12 hours so I just want to make sure you are dividing the 2mg. Max does get 2mg morning and night at amps when needed.

Yes he gets 2mg twice daily. Shortly his BG 80 I gave him 1oz HC FF hour later BG 122. I am not sure what his dose PM dose should be he gets 1U now.

Since you are following the SLGS method, Gus earned a reduction today for going under 90. His new dose would be .75 units.

My mistake. Wendy is both far smarter and a better reader than I am when it comes to FD . I also missed that you are following SLGS. I NEED TO LEARN ABOUT IT. I FOLLOW. TR.

Thanks your guidance is very valuable and much needed since my vet only can say I don't know what is going on.

Until the beginning of this year, there were two separate forums, one following SLGS and one following TR. Now that they are combined, we are all learning both.

For next time Gus goes under 90, you don't need to give him high carb food unless he goes under 60 or is showing actual signs of a hypo. Cats not on insulin range from 40 to 120, we just don't want Gus to drop too close to that while on insulin, which is why we take action when they get lower. At that 80, you could have given him some regular low carb food to see if he would surf those healing greens a while. You might want to print out a copy of the How to Treat Hypos document referenced in the SLGS protocol. Always a good document to have around should the power go out.

Good luck with the reduction!:)

Good morning

He had good day yesterday was very hungry and we cuddled a lot . Eat small meals and there was clean bowl couple of times. His BG is high again. This morning he eat his food that I left for him. He gets 3 oz can of FF and he is munching on it until lunch he will get snack 2 oz FF appetizer and before PS shot another 3 oz. He usually will eat 3/4 of it. I am glad that chickens will gladly eat unfinished food. I have three other cats and they don't like this food also. They eat Friskies mix grill pate.
His BM was hard this morning so I am going to get miralax. I am giving him little pumpkin but I am concerned that it will raise his BG.

How is Max today?
