Yesterday's tale of Drops

Well, looks like my ability to measure in drops may be challenged, OR it's just the normal change of dose wonkies I hear about. Q is lookin good this am.

Hope the nice Spring weather stays with us for a while and that all you out there in LL have a peaceful, relaxing Sunday.
 
I noticed on your spreadsheet that you mentioned .25 still pushing her below 50. That's not actually the case, because of the depot it would have been a larger dose than that she was using. New dose wonkiness only tends to happen on the way up. I suspect that the numbers you're seeing tonight are a result of the depot emptying and the dose now being too low. This can happen when you need to drop doses the way that you did to get ahead of the depot. You may find you need to go back up again for a bit.

Maybe give her one more cycle and see what she does, if she doesn't hit green I think I would increase.

Thank you! I guess I keep having trouble thinking about this in terms of the depot and think about it more as an immediate response to the last shot given (though I think you might see why, given the last few days and the repeated drop offs right after her shots). I'll stick with the two drops today. Technically I think I was supposed to give one drop last night but *tried* to give two. Whooops! I really can't say with a ton of confidence either way. It feels like I am pretending to give her a shot at these mico doses.....
 
Well today was a bit hectic and thus very little testing. Q was hungry tonight (though she had access to food all day)...and was up scrapping with the other cats at supper time.
 
Oh Queenie. Did you read the dosecrease threat earlier today? You do have the option of aborting the cycle with a lot of carbs if you can't stay awake. Otherwise, I'd get another test 30 minutes after your last one so if she goes under 50 you can catch it quickly and start getting her back up.
 
Sounds good, though if you're heading off to sleep in 30 minutes, I'd leave some more hc food out for her in case she needs it - safer for her to run a little high overnight than to risk her dropping a bit further into the cycle.
 
Yep. She typically free feeds, responds well to carbs and usually sails right through low numbers. Not to say we won't have a problem ever, but seems like this dance of hers is getting a little easier for both of us ; - )
 
That's great to hear and the more you get to know how she responds to carbs and low numbers the easier it will get. Free feeding makes it so much easier doesn't it? Rosa free feeds as well and will grab every last bit of food out of all the bowls if she's going low - she even self-moderated when we over-carbed her deliberately a few days ago and was still hanging out in the 80s later in the day after just picking at the hc food on and off all day. It amazes me how they can possibly know to do that, but some cats certainly seem to be able to figure it out for themselves a lot of the time :)
