That is very scary for me. I can stall but am unclear with stalling if I still hold the dose at 2.75? Should I feed him during stalling??? Test him again before I shoot? I read the whole thing but it is still not clear to me...

Can't offer dosing advice, but as far as rules for stalling: Don't feed while stalling, definitely test again in 15 minutes to see if he's rising before shooting.

Some things to consider: Can you monitor for a while and are you stocked up with HC food/Karo/honey? If you do stall any amount of time longer than a half hour, that is your new shot time and PMPS will be 12 hours after that, can you shift the schedule or are you locked in to the times you shoot at now?

I am home all day so I can do this. Unfortunately he ate. What now?

this would be the lowest you shot.
so yes, stall , see if the next test goes up or down.
If up, I would shoot. And get a +2 ( maybe even a +1)
Since you are around, you can steer him up if he starts dropping.

I agree with @rhiannon and shadow, if Woody is going up, and you will be home, and have HC to steer a low (if it happens), then you should go ahead and shoot the dose.

BUT, if you feel uncomfortable shooting the full dose you could decrease it a bit just to make you feel a little bit better. I know if it were me and I was still new to this dance I would be nervous to shoot the full dose with this PS.

also depends on your goal.
You might earn a dose reduction today.....

I have to leave in 30 minutes so I can't stay with you and support you thru it.

if you want to shoot a bcs ( big chicken shot) and reduce a bit you won't lose as much momentum as you would by skipping.
Its drains the depot either way but a little drain isn't as drastic as a full missed shot.

Just tested at 1 hour after last test and he is 131. But he ate a lot over the last hour, so 131 seems low to shoot...

What would be a big chicken shot? 1.5? 2?

I personally would probably not go lower than 2u for a BCS dose. But that is me and I am comfortable steering a low if it occurs.

pretty much as they get in lower numbers, the drops aren't as big as when they are in higher numbers....
they tend to just surf those greens...

he's on the rise now so he's probably going to go up more....
by shooting, it's like putting a lid on the simmering pot, keep it simmering.....

but if you aren't ready... then shoot a lesser amount. that bcs ....
Woody will get back to this point again maybe sooner than later.... and you'll have another opportunity. You've shot a blue before....

Thanks EVERYONE for your quick and expert advice. Sorry I am such a newbie-fraidy! I shot him BCS of 2 units and will monitor him. I also now know that the next shot is due +12 hours from now, not the normal time and that I will work it back slowly to the normal schedule.
THANKS!!!

I know it is really scary when you do this for the first few times. We have all been there. Just be sure to monitor closely to make sure you can steer a low if it happens. I would get +1 and +2 just to see where he is going. If he seems to be surfing you can probably wait until +4 for the next test and see where he is to determine when you should do the next test.

Based on the fact that he is still very new to GREEN there is a good chance that he will bounce at some point in the near future so those low numbers might not last very long, but you just never really know.
