It seems that last night's bounce is clearing and maybe we will get green numbers again today. I thought the bounce might continue into this morning's cycle but we have a blue number again. I have been invited out for a family lunch at a family member's house one hour away so I am thinking because we have had a good drop by +5 we might see a further drop later in this cycle as tends to happen and if I go out I will be gone from +8 to PMPS. Maybe I will take Lucy with me but I don't like to stress her with travelling if I can avoid that. Though she doesn't get anxious away from home it is just the travel she doesn't like too much. I was looking at getting one of those pet tents which are big enough to put a bed and a litter box in which I could set up at family's houses and that way Lucy could travel with me if needed and have a safe space to be in. I often take Lucy with me to my sister's house and she likes the change of scene. :) I will see what the other tests show before I go if I go out. Otherwise I either don't go or I take Lucy with me to the lunch at my family member's house if we get to green numbers later on. :) I don't know how those of you who work outside of the home do it as I would be so worried a lot of the time.

The +6 is about the same as the +5 so hopefully Lucy's glucose levels won't drop too low today so I don't worry if I do decide to go out.

Hi Voula,
I understand completely how you feel about leaving with a low number. I had a function yesterday and on the advice of the forum I lowered the dose.
I take Sheba with me if it is close but she freaks out at going to other people's places and it just isn't worth it.
Three times a week I go and pick up grandchildren from school and it can be a 2 hour round trip if I am unlucky (parking, heavy traffic, late out of school etc) and it is over the nadir. I always get anxious if the number is low.
Can you give her some higher carbs to bring her up or abort the cycle?

Thank you Bron. I was thinking of you as I wrote the post. I can give Lucy some higher carbs. I just did though the glucose level is not low at this point. What does aborting the cycle mean?

I just spoke to my family member and I can bring Lucy with me but I asked if she has rat poison in the house as they live in the bush and she does. So I won't take Lucy with me as I would worry she might eat a poisoned mouse. I have ordered a cat tent today from www.crazysales.com.au which would provide a safe enclosure if needed.

I don't think you have anything to worry about today Voula. She's surfing along and even if she does drop a bit letter in the cycle it won't be to dangerous levels. Go out, relax and enjoy. I wouldn't give her any HC just leave some LC out to ease your worries if you like.

Thank you Serryn. I did give a little high carb but it made no difference and in fact the glucose level dropped a little but not much from 10.6 to 10.1. I know these are not problematic numbers at all but just the worry of dropping lower later on. Usually though by +7 if there was going to be a big drop it would have happened though sometimes we get a drop towards dose time.

"Go out, relax...." said Serryn. Hahahaha.

Am with you in spirit.:bighug:
But I do agree with Serryn. Lucy should be OK. But I do understand how you feel.
Aborting the cycle is when you give high carbs on purpose to bring them back up and interrupt the cycle from going lower. Please someone correct me if I am wrong but that is how I thought it was explained to me.
Hope you can enjoy the lunch:)

Do it! Do I have to young lady you! She'll be fine she quite probably will drop a bit at the tail end - maybe even green - but not enough to be worried about.

Aborting the cycle means interrupting any lows and getting the cat well over 100. I think Lucy will be safe. I am with Serryn - go out and have fun!

I hope you went and I hope you had a fabulous time with your family!

You're very smart about the rat poison. When I was in college I took my cat with me home for the weekend, and when we got back to school she was really off - turned out she'd gotten into some poison in my parents' garage. Fortunately she survived it, but it was a wake-up call for me.

Thank you Serryn, Bron, Wendy and Julie for your replies and I did go out and had a nice time. I left the icam on and I could monitor Lucy while I was out and she was fine and I could see she napped and then ate and napped again. :) Julie yes I am very wary of any toxins and I don't even use many chemical products in my home. That is good that your cat survived the poison. The PMPS was reasonable considering the high carb food I left out and considering it was one hour after Lucy ate as I saw what time she ate and I could see she went straight for the high carb options I had left out. The low carb food was not eaten. :) I know I could have left only low carb as the glucose levels were not low but this was a step forward for me as I only ever leave Lucy for short periods and only go to places close to home when she is having blue and green numbers unless I can see that her glucose is clearly rising. So an achievement and a small step forward for me in coping with my anxiety too.

Am pleased you got out and had an enjoyable time.
Am icam would be handy. How do you know where she will be to watch her or do you have it in multiple rooms.?

I have several icams and I have one pointed at the food bowls and that tells me when Lucy ate as it records movement by taking photos and records the time too. Some may say this is a little obsessive :D:cool: but I know others on the FDMB facebook group have quite elaborate icam setups with many more icams. :) In one way they can provide reassurance but in another way they can cause anxiety too. One day I didn't see Lucy go to her food bowls for hours and I panicked so I called my neighbour and she came in and checked on Lucy and she was fine and it was simply that I had fed her too much before I went out. Overall though I have found having the icams very good and it helps me to be less anxious.
