YESTERDAY:http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...-3-70-4-5-53-5-40or44-5-75-46-7-25-66.135501/

Morning.:coffee::coffee::coffee: needed this morning after last night's pj party. It will be interesting to see if Max ounces after dipping to 40 or 44 at nadir and feeding 9% instead of hc or karo. I retested immediately so the tests were on the same drop of blood. He then ate until about 4 hours before amps and got his last teaspoon of 3% about 25 minutes before amps because I didn't pick up his plate after he didn't eat after the last test. I thought about a decrease this morning and almost did it but didn't.

Prayers and vines to all in need with extra for those healing from dentals, Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Tricia's 4, and any others in need.

Could this bouncing be a sign that he needs less juice? Or is it the result of eating 9% last night?

His bounce today is mostly due to the 40 last night Elise

The carbs from feeding a higher carb canned food would have worked their way out by now

Looks like Max is heading in the right direction again!!

PJ parties are fun, but not so much the next morning. I see you didn't take the reduction this morning, will you be reducing tonight?

It does look like a bit of a small bounce from those low numbers last night. Good luck with the reduction.

I guess I will wait for a third time under 50 or an under 40 to reduce unless others think I should try it now.

Chris, I know the carbs would be out of his system but it was suggested that perhaps he is bouncing from feeding the higher carbs when he drops. The plan was to feed his regular lc but when I saw the 40 and 46 I went with 9% which is Lowe than the he I gave the last time. I'm not sure how I should be guiding him now.

Not much of a bounce there, Max. OK by me. Slip it back to those more Max-like numbers soon.

Hope you can sneak a nap today, Elise.

Without going back and re-reading all the condo's lately, I think what was suggested that instead of giving HC when he dropped below 50, that you try just giving him a little of his regular low carb food to see if you can get him up surfing, but not send him a lot higher

If China drops below 50 (but is in the mid-upper 40's), I'll just give her a little of her regular food ....it usually has just enough carbs to bring her back up, but not send her to the moon. If she continues to drop, I'll start adding higher carb foods until she's back above 50

I save the MC and HC for numbers in the low 40's, 30's and 20's

It's just something you're going to have to experiment with Max and see what works for him...would be nice if ECWD (every cat wasn't different) wouldn't it??

Then I was right to give the mc when he hit 40. Thanks. Has China actually gone as low as the 20"s? Yikes. I am considering not giving even mc the next time because that will mean a reduction no matter what and might shed some light on this for me. It will depend on how tired I am if it happens at night. I actually dosed off and didn't test quite as soon as I planned last night in between the 46 and the one in the 50's. The best plans don't always work out to be possible.

I'm not the napping type. Max often doesn't immediately react to the 40's. He's a little slow. It might hit tonight or even somorrow or tomorrow night.

Yes she has, but it's been a very long time!! The lowest I've ever caught her at was a 22 ...talk about a wake up call!!

Nice recovery there, Max! I agree with Marilyn, not much of a bounce, but that is just fine. Don't feel the need to bounce tonight or tomorrow, Max......

I think I would throw up and pass out if Skooter ever went into the 20s....32 has been his lowest and that was freaky enough, thank you very much.

That is as low as Max has gone as well. That is why the 40 got my attention!!! I'm with you Molly.

You call that a bounce? I'll show you a bounce! - Cinco

I'd take that high blue after a big drop any day!!! Cinco prefers to be much more dramatic. This morning he dropped 178 points in 4 hours, so I figure I'm in for more ugliness tonight.

Looks like Max is headed back to his favorite numbers now. Just a little farther and your toes will be wet, Max!

I'm like you, Elise - I can't nap. However, last weekend when I was BIC, I did actually manage a couple of successful btbs! It was nice.

I could be wrong. It won't be the first time but this is how his bounces often start. We think he's done and the he hits the high yellow floor or higher. He is often slow to react.

Do you mean to have a ? post icon in your subject line? I'm not finding a question, although maybe it was about feeding mc/hc?

One factor to consider in using mc/hc/lc is what exactly you're trying to do in that cycle - are you trying to prevent a reduction or just help them surf? And of course, how low the cat goes is the trump card that always wins - if you've got a 20's or 30's you don't really have the option of not pulling out something high carb, regardless of whether or not it's going to keep them high for longer than you would prefer.

I was questioning how to handle a 40 and if he needs a reduction, Julie. Thanks.

Come back to the lagoon, Max! I wish I had some advice to offer. Good luck with the reduction if you do decide to take one.

My goodness Max! that was some pj party last night:D. And if that is all he bounced to today, Im guessing he will be getting a bit less juice soon:). Surf along safe now Max.

Thanks for visiting Deanna, Laura, Marilyn, Patricia, and Tricia. I decided to hold his dose partially because I think he will earn one soon and partly because I was 15 minutes late and didn't have the time to deal with it.
