Eddie's 3/30 Condo

Recap:
3/31:
AMPS/94, +2.5/92, +6/90, PMPS/107, +2/108, +3.5/78, +6/80
TODAY: AMBG/?, +3/128, +3.5/VET, PMBG/125, +3/76, +5/65

Good morning LL!

Popping on for a few minutes from TBP to get a quick Eddie condo up. Today is D-day. I wasn't really nervous until I dropped Eddie off this morning at about AM +3.5. Eddie was mad and confused about the whole situation this morning.

He was not pleased by the no food after midnight situation. He got locked in the bedroom with me this morning at breffis time while the other cats ate at normal AMPS time. He then woke me up every 15 minutes by biting me to tell me that he had not eaten yet. I got up and got myself and him ready and hit the road after a BG test at +3 past normal AMPS time. He was at 128 which I'd say isn't too bad for no insulin and no eating for 9 hours. DH didn't think to test at AMPS this morning, and I didn't remind him so no AMBG test.

Dropped Eddie off and didn't get to see the vet. Compared to @MollynSkooter I feel a little unprepared!

Eddie sang the song of his people the whole way there and while we were checking in. I believe it went something like this:

Goin' to the dent hiss.
oww-oww-oww
No midnite snacks or breffis.
waa-waa-waa
Mama, I bited you on your knee,
aarr-aarr-aarr
But you still didn't feed me.
woah-woah-woah
Into da box I got stuffed,
noo-noo-noo
And then my tail got puffed.
hiss-hiss-hiss
Into da stupid car I went.
yrrrr-yrrrr-yrrrr
Mama, why you put me through dis torment?

arowl-arowl-arowl
Today I hate you, Mamabean,
yowl-yowl-yowl
Cuz you is so mean.

Reception told me not to expect to hear anything until 3:00 PM today, so I'll be nervously awaiting news.

Special dental vines for Skooterbear and calm vines to Mollybean today.

Sending tons of dental vines and prayers to Eddie. I love love love his song - what a creative kitty!!! Fasting our babies is the worst, but at least that part s behind you. We'll be watching for updates!!

I think Skooter was singing a similar song, but his included not eating after 8pm, as they were pretty insistent on that.

Sending lots of dental vines to Eddie.....Skooter and him can chat tonight and compare stories/experiences....

Happy Dental Day, Eddie! Sending lots of dental vines. Eddie, I had no idea you were such a clever songwriter. I'm sure you have a beautiful voice too. I hope everything goes well and you both enjoy a nice dinner later!

Update:

Just got off the phone with the vet. Eddie's currently waking up. The dental went well. He has FORL. Two canine teeth and 2 pre-molar teeth were removed. They gave him covenia, which we'd asked he not be given last time he had an AB, but he had no problem with it before, so hopefully there won't be any issue. We'll be sent home with pain meds. I'll be leaving work shortly to go get him. I'm leaning towards no shot tonight regardless of numbers.

That's probably a good call on the no-shot tonight. Go slow with the food - a teaspoon or so every 20-30 minutes for a while. You don't want scarf and barf.

Good thing you got the dental done - he obviously needed it!

And I loved the Song of His People. hahahahaha I've heard that song before too! :woot:

I'm glad it's over. Skipping or half a dose is probably a good idea this evening. Furball's appy was off the evening of her dental, but back to normal the next day. I gave half a dose that evening and her full dose the next morning.

Don't forget that the AB it may upset his tummy and you may need to give fortiflora or some kind of probiotic.

So glad to hear things when well.....Skoots got the ole FORL dx as well.....

I concur on the skipping the shot tonight regardless of numbers, that is my plan with Skooter, too.

Also, if Eddie is like Skooter, he will have another lil ditty to sing to you on the way home lol....

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and words. Didn't get much accomplished at TBP today.

Eddie's home and we're hanging out in the bedroom.

Eddie sang me the most moving rendition of the Dental Day song on the way home. I think he was hurting. He was rubbing his face all over his carrier howling. Of course, this is driving home in rush hour traffic.

His PMBG that was somewhere generally around shot time was 125, which I'm kind of stunned by. Last time we had him in the car, he hit the last 300's that show up on his SS, so I'm surprised his BG isn't higher from the stress of everything. His appetite is good. He's eating little bits of Beechnut turkey and keeping it down. The other cats are getting "candy" tonight from our huge stockpile of high carb food that we haven't used in a couple months. Nonetheless, they are all convinced that Eddie must be getting something better, and are hanging outside the bedroom door where Eddie and I are hanging out. He hasn't peed or pooped yet, but I suppose he had nothing to eat for about 18 hours, so there's nothing to pee or poop out.

He had his first dose of bupe and is mostly just sitting staring off into space. I'd rather him be dopey and not in pain than be too worried about him being overly loopy tonight. He's walking around just fine and he's not wobbly, but he's definitely avoiding jumping on and off things.

I'm not sure which teeth are gone as I did not get to talk to the vet or the tech that participated in the dental as they handed him back to me tonight. I know it was four extractions and I wrote down two canines and two pre-molars. His cheeks are a looking a little lopsided, poor baby. I don't want to mess with his face too much, but it looks like for sure the upper "fang" on the left is gone.

I think I might poke him a little later tonight more for curiosity sake to see what's happening his numbers with some food on board, and then tomorrow, decide on dose depending on where he's at. If by some chance he's under 100 in the AM, I'm tempted to skip.

One plus is that I was stunned by how LOW Eddie's dental bill was. It was under $400 for everything, including x-rays and the four extractions. I was anticipating paying at least double that.

@Jen&Eddie we must soooooooo be on the same page as Skooter and I are going to be held up in the bedroom tonight as well......perhaps I should have gone where you did, Skooter was about $650 I think....which still wasn't as bad as I thought.....

So glad he is doing well and enjoying his pain meds.....what a wonderful thing they must be for them.....I will be checking Skooter a couple of times as well tonight...."just to see" lol

Hi Jen, Eddie,
We're glad that the ordeal is over and hope that Eddie will have a good night and that the tooth fairy brings him something nice.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Yo Eddie, I heard your songs. You sing real good! Don't worry about your old teeth. I have 5 teeth left and I do OK. I only have my lower canines! Make sure your mamabean gives you some nice, soft treats tonight. Or how about some catmint sorbet? I can bring you some later.

Yippee! Eddie is home and eating. :):):) Good thing Eddie isn't jumping. I was told not to let Neko jump or do stairs, but she was on the stairs after her dentals the moment I turned my back. Good plan just snuggling in the bedroom.

Love the dental songs - times like that I wish I could record them.

So happy to see that Eddie's home and doing so well!!

From what I've learned here, the anesthesia they use can sometimes make them have lower BG, so that may be some of the reason for the nice numbers tonight!

Singing the song of his people, huh?....Wonder where I've heard that before....LOL

Love the creativity of his mamabean!!

That is really good about the 125, Max went pink on me after his no shot an dental. My bill was about $750 included 3 extractions of which I was only charged for one with stitches and it was supposedly discounted for dental health month. I gave Max a 1/2 soe because when we got home in the afternoon he ate some baby food. Later he wouldn't eat at pmps time. I'm glad he is home and eating.

That's it I'm moving, the mouth work Vyktor just had done cost me $1,200 odd - Australian!

Good to hear Eddies doing so well, I love his song
