Welcome! So you are home testing? What insulin? I know someone will be along soon to hopefully help you set up a spreadsheet so you can share Panthers numbers with us. How long ago was Panther diagnosed?
He's on lantusHere is the link to setting up a spreadsheet and adding it to your signature. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...te-a-ss-and-link-it-in-your-signature.130337/
It would also be helpful to us if you put the type of insulin you're using in your signature. Advice is different for different types of insulin.
He gets lantus 2x every 12hrs I check before work after work then 1or 2 times before bed numbers vary today was a good day for him his last 2 readings were good 102and 151 just before his night time shot we have an Accu-vue but i'm out of strips had pick up a Rexall until my strips come in his numbers vary 293 was his highest 48 lowest I only feed him FF classic onlyWould you like to share more information with us and we can offer better advice then.
Such as:
how much Lantus are you giving
how many times a day
how frequently are you testing
what are the test numbers
what kind of meter are you using
what kind of food are you feeding and how much and how frequently
Not sure if we have a problem Panther had a good weekend we found our curve until this morning I gave him his first shot before work 1am his sugars were 183 1pm they were 224 he got his second shot.He dropped to a 53 by 6pm is this normal
I have everything for him times and numbersHi Margaret and extra sweet Panther!!
Saw your question on Facebook
53 is very close to a reduction in dose number, so anytime he's getting near 50, you really need to get another test in about 30 minutes later to make sure he's not continuing to drop. Any time they drop below 50 (on a human meter) they earn a reduction in dose
I'd get another test as soon as possible and see where he's at now
That 53 is at +5 (5 hours after shot) but without having a spreadsheet to look at, we have no way of knowing when he usually has his nadir (lowest point in the cycle) so it makes it really difficult to give you a lot of help
Are you keeping a record at home of his test results? If you are, it would be great if you'd start our spreadsheet and add some of the numbers you've gotten! If you need help with it, just say so! We have people here who can help get it started for you and then transfer it to you to keep up with
Still can't get it upThat's great!! Let's see if we can get you onto our spreadsheet and then we'll really be able to help you more!
I have I'm getting the sheets nowCan you download the Google Drive app?
Still can't get it to go up getting frustratedUnderstanding the spreadsheet/grid:
The colored headings at the top are the ranges of glucose values. They are color-coded to clue you in as to meaning.
Each day is 1 row. Each column stores different data for the day.
From left to right, you enter
the Date in the first column
the AMPS (morning pre-shot test) in the 2nd column
the Units given (turquoise column)
Then, there are 11 columns labeled +1 through +11
If you test at +5 (5 hours after the shot), you enter the test number in the +5 column
If you test at +7 (7 hours after the shot), you enter the test number in the +7 column
and so on.
Halfway across the page is the column for PMPS (evening pre-shot)
To the right is another turquoise column for Units given at the evening shot.
There is second set of columns labeled +1 through +11
If you snag a before bed test at +3, you enter the test number in the +3 column.
We separate day and night numbers like that because many cats go lower at night.
It is merely a grid for storing the info; no math required.
Can someone else get it using my name I can give you everything I haveStill can't get it to go up getting frustrated
