Help! what do i do? from 322 down to 92 in 3 hours, is this ok?

can someone please have a look at whiskers charts .....his numbers have been crazy today, i did curve today and these are his numbers, upper 300s-400s. and i checked his levels 3 hours after evening dose and its down to 92, couldn't believe it so i check again on his other ear and it was 99......what do i do?

With the SLGS you're going to reduce his dose if he goes below 90. He's not in any danger at this point. He might be clearing a bounce. Take a look at the second post in that thread to read about bouncing.

I would feed him some regular low carb, maybe an ounce or so, to try to stop his fast drop. Then I'd recheck him in about 30 minutes. I can check back in with you in a half hour to see what he's doing then if you want. Just say so.

regular low carb would be his food that i normally give him? that would be awesome, if it's ok with you, to check back in half hour....just nervous cause his numbers were really high today and then they dropped all of a sudden
 
yes - that's what you normally give him.

i understand - that was a significant drop. When a cat drops too fast (more than maybe 50 points or so per hour) it can trigger another bounce that sends the cat back high again. I'll look for you in a bit.

If he goes below 50 you'll want to pop open a can of high carb gravy cat food, press out about 1 teaspoon of gravy and give it to him. Then come and post.

He's perfectly safe. When he goes below 50 you still will have time to feed him some high carbs and pull him up. I caught punkin at 32 one time - we differentiate between a cat in low numbers and a cat actually having a symptomatic hypo. It's pretty rare for us to see a hypo in people who are testing.

I'm thinking that was about +4, wasn't it? He was +3/92 and +4/59? Do I have that right?

i think im the one running around panicking and he is just bathing himself
 
hahahaha he's waiting for you to break out the gravy - they know there's good stuff hidden in the cupboard!

I think i'd check him again at +4.5. He's not dropping too fast now - the food you gave him slowed him down. You can give him another couple of teaspoons of his regular food if you think he'll eat it. I'll see you in another 1/2 hr.

his levels are now 73, only problem is that my husband fed him and i told him to feed him 1 teaspoon of his regular food and he gave him 2 tablespoons of the high carb gravy food that we used to give him before:banghead:
this is not good:(, will this be a problem?
 
no - it's perfectly ok. sometimes people do that even when a cat doesn't go below 50 if, for example, it's late and they just can't stay awake, or they have to go out. We call it "aborting the cycle" meaning that you intervened and raised them up.

I don't know how late it is for you - typically we just want to see that he's past the low point and not going to drop low again. When you give food/carbs and it raises the blood sugar, sometimes it can bobble around and drop back down as the carbs wear off. I'd want to test again a couple more times at 1/2 hr intervals or so to make sure that he's not going to drop back down. If you can't stay awake, leave him out plenty of regular food.

Since you're following the SLGS method, you would decrease his dose by 0.25u because he went below 90, beginning with his next shot.

Does all of that make sense?
 
it is currently 12:06am (central) i live in Minnesota :)
will test him until i can stay awake, he is currently sleeping:cat:
so if he was on .75 units he will go down to .5 , right?
