WCR: Most Ps in place. Appy isn't all that great this morning. I've been bowl holding, sweet talkin', following her around and she's had maybe 1/3 of her breffis. I did get some snuggles last night and this morning, but she's just not feeling like herself. I gave her a little Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken last night when I was giving her sub-q fluids. She definitely liked it. So, here's the thing...I'm worried about her kidneys AND I'm worried about her weight loss...and then there's the diabetes...soooooo, where the hell is the perfect fuds?!?!?! High calorie, low carb, high protein, low phosphorus AND tasty!!!!!! :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh: I need to put weight on my girl, but I don't want to stress out her kidneys or screw over her BGs. She's hasn't peed this morning which is pretty unusual. I'm sure I'll come home to some prezzies, but still....I like to know that there's at least one pee in the box!

Pixie update: according to my sister, she is much the same. Eating a little Friskies Special Diet T&G, not very mobile, getting ~200 mL sub-q fluids. Apparently, she was not being a very cooperative patient last night and kept rolling during sub-q time, so Susan wasn't sure she got 200mL in her. She didn't get a chance to grab the baby fuds last night because she's so worried about Pixie that she just races home to be with her and give her fluids & try to get her to eat. She asked me the other night "how do you do it? ... how do you leave her every morning? ... how do you not scoop her up and put her in your purse and take her to work?" She said that she's racked with guilt while at work. Goodness, we all know that feeling. I still feel it...every day. :(

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Poo piles -

This has been my nightmare for the last year. I finally gave up...the best food is a food they will eat! As high in phos as it is, and therefore not good at all for Trix's CKD, she eats Fancy Feast and Purina ONE - because she will EAT those. It is HARD to not stress over it...hard to see the big picture. I do use a phos binder, and that helps a little, but it's not "ideal"...except having her eat IS ideal. So maybe just try looking at it from a different perspective - as difficult as it is.

More prayers for Pixie. Have a great day, Deborah!

Morning Deborah :coffee::coffee::coffee:

I so remember that fuds ordeal. it is as Amy says... lived it everyday, especially when Mannie became a multi issue kitty. it is so hard. we just do the best we can. One has to focus on the big picture and how is our kitties overall. Despite the stress of it all, Mannie was one happy dude, despite all my stress and worry. You are doing great with Shasta. :)

I feel for your sister, and know the emotions all too well, felt them everyday when I left for work. I think we all understand. Big hugs to your sister, and many positive healing vines for Pixie.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

Managing CKD alone was a challenge for me because mine wouldn't eat the lower phos foods. Weruva is good and lower phos if your cat will eat it but low in calories so if she is underweight it could be a problem.

The latest labs I see are from 2013. What are her phosphorus, creatinine, and bun levels now?

Learned years ago from my boss, "It aint food if they don't eat it." Amy's right on target. Eating something is more important than not eating anything.

Boomer, CKD, and Polly both sorta like the Friskies Special Diet food. But not always. And Boomer gets FF sometimes cuz he can be picky. I'll even just drizzle the juice from Paw Lickin' Chicken on some of the "good for 'em" foods to encourage eating. Here, FortiFlora is amazing at getting the gobbling going.

But it can be a challenge sometimes.

Vines for your sister. For Pixie.

The latest labs should be from March 2014. All of her numbers were within "normal" range except BG and Potassium. I'd love to have current blood work done, but she's really nasty when I take her to the vet and in order to draw blood, they have to sedate her. Last year, she didn't do so well coming out of sedation, so I'm really hesitant to take her in for 2015 blood work.

@Amy&TrixieCat, I agree 100%. I just hate feeling like I'm screwing over one system to satisfy another system. I want to fix all of it right now. :arghh:

Update on Pixie: Susan picked up some baby fuds and said that Pixie likes them!!! :joyful: She likes them even more when my mom feeds her and holds her plate. Susan thinks it's because mom is "low" anxiety; whereas Susan is "high" anxiety with high expectations. I understand every emotion she is going through. Her regular vet is back tomorrow and she has an appointment scheduled for 3:30pm - CST. I told her that they better run more blood work...full panel, like they SHOULD HAVE DONE last Friday.

Oh, and as for Shasta...what in the heck is up with these stinky pinkies?!?! UGH! I can only imagine that she went low while I was at work today and now she's bouncing. :( Tomorrow is a student day off; teacher work day. Apparently, my administration will be walking about making sure that we are actually working on campus. I understand that we are required to work on campus, but I hate being treated like a child and/or common criminal. :banghead:
:blackeye: Spent all night hemming 2 pairs of tuxedo pants that were butchered by a parent. Now it's time for bed. Sorry I didn't make it to condos. I pray that everyone had a good day. Sleep well.
