OT: Spray to stop a cat from marking?

is there a reliable hopefully cheap spray to stop a cat from spraying? If you've seen my posts before about my cats aggression towards the strays that won't stop coming to our house this is related. I've had complete turmoil in my house 3 times because these cats won't stop coming by my house. The latest episode was Wednesday. I came home to a cat marking my front door!!!! Figures the one window I forgot to cover! So I covered it, got the cats good and had them together last night for the second day in a row till the middle of the night my cat freaked out by the front door so I'm assuming the cat came back and sprayed again! Any tips to keep it away or to stop spraying?
 
Any kind of citric scented spray will work. You can even squeeze lemon or orange rinds around the area to help keep him away.
 
Just a random idea: My parents used mothballs to keep skunks away from their house after one tried to nest at the front steps. I wonder if something like that would work with the strays?

Edit: A quick google search shows mothballs are pretty toxic, nevermind!
 
Thank you for the ideas....I'll google citrus spray, I'd have no idea where to get it.

I'm wondering if I made things worse. Wednesday a cat came by and sprayed the front door well I doused it with bathroom cleaner thinking its strong and would eliminate the urine. Googled for ideas this morning and come to find out it makes matters worse so it said to wash in a mild detergent then spray with vinegar. The deterrent eliminates the urine I guess and the vinegar repels. Cleaners have ammonia and make the scent stronger!!!!

I'm wondering if maybe that is the cause for the freak out last night. I'm at my wits end. This is the third time this has happened since the end of November. All my windows are covered, my cats are on edge, and I'm sick to my stomach from the stress. I was so relieved that it only took about 4 days to get them good again, they slept together fine Saturday night, and then at 2 am I wake up to the bottom falling out again. I can't keep going through this and I can't lock them up every night. They cry and bang at the door all night.
 
There's always a household cleaner that's citrus scented, any will do. Most pet stores will sell a cat anti-marking/deterrent/repellent made just for that too!
 
I know this isn't cats, but my dad has chased many an animal away from his garden. He swears by hot-pepper repellent spray and blood meal. The hot pepper spray will give the animals a bit of a sting when sniffing, but won't do any lasting damage, the blood meal fertilizer smells pretty bad (seriously), but animals are fearful of it.
 
Thank you, I did find that this morning but sadly it doesnt help much. The only thing on my porch is a welcome mat, not plants, food, chairs etc. I just ordered a feliway plug as well to put in the entry way by the door. Im trying anything, and open to any options. Windows are covered, have feliway spray, washed porch and dumped a gallon of vinegar out there will reapply by spraying every day. Dont know what kind of citrus spray????

cause all that kept coming to mind is goo gone lol. I might actually have an orange cleaner I'll have to check my cabinet.
 
How about some sort of motion triggered device that sounds like a big, mean, barking dog?! I know, probably not a reasonable idea, but it came to mind. And your neighbors probably wouldn't be pleased, either... but then perhaps it's their cats that are triggering all your problems in the first place.
 
Thank you everyone for the ideas. May try the orange cleaner or pinesol. If that doesnt work Ill have to try the ssscat. Last night they were able to sleep together without any problems. Of course I slept horribly because I was on guard for any issues. I ordered the feliway plug in and that will be here tomorrow. I plan on putting it in the entry way by the front door since thats an "aggressive" zone. The other area is the guest bedroom hallway, but I think thats because its a small hallway and they feel cornered, or because thats where I seclude them in the guest bedroom. For the time being I have that hallway blocked off as well until I feel theyre comfortable with each other and slowly introduce that area again.

Anyone have any experience with scented candles calming cats? I searched and it said lavender or chamomile candles can calm them, didnt know if anyone had any success with that. I plan on spraying the porch again with vinegar in a bit. Figure I'll keep reapplying it.
 
No experience with the candles, but lavender calming collars helped with my kitty adjusting to my old roommates' bully of a cat. Don't know if anyone's suggested those yet. I can't imagine the candles would hurt, they might help you feel calmer at least!

I hope you find something to help soon. It's got to be so stressful. :bighug:

I thought about the collars before when it started back in November, but the negative feedback & images on amazon freaked me out. My parents used it on their cat and had no problem, but I see my cats freaking out and hurting themselves with it.

Sadly, this situation has left me to the point that I will never have multiple cats again. Its sad because I've had at least 2 cats for almost 14 years with no problems till now and I just cannot deal with this stress. I love my fur babies so I will ride it out, but will not open myself up to this type of problem down the line. Luckily right now theyre all calm and together but im so on edge waiting for the bottom to fall out. Its like a ticking time bomb with a broken timer lol
