Yesterday's Condo

Good morning LL,

Well, when I tested Sammy at AMPS I was a little disappointed in BLUE after the completely GREEN day yesterday, but Sammy dropped by +1 back to GREEN, and the 47 at +2. WHAT! I thought for sure we would be able to get a good 4-6 cycles on this dose, but maybe Sammy has other plans. Right now my plan it is to still hold the 1.25 dose tonight, but it will all depend on how hard it is to bring him up over 50. For his +2 MM I gave 11% carb food instead of the 4-5% food. I will test again before we head out the door to work and if he is still under 50 then I will probably give him a bit of HC gravy just to level him out.

I know that this could still be a bit of carry over from the 1.5 unit dose, which is why I would like to hold the 1.25 dose a bit longer, but if you don't know anything about Sammy's past experience on insulin, he went from 1.5 unit dose to .25 in a matter of about a week. that was back in 2010. I really didn't expect that to happen this time, but I guess I should be watching for those quick drops and reduction to make sure he is safe.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day. It looks like it is going to be another active cycle for us.

I too use the Arkray strips for my Micro meter sometimes. Early on I tested them and they work just fine. I then bought an Arkray for my back up meter.

Thanks for that information. I have checked out the site and will probably place an order soon.

Sammy has had another great day. We did hit 47 this morning, but I am sure it is the fact that the depot is still a bit full, and I barely had to work at all to bring him back up. a little (2 tsp) 11% food and he was good to go.

I gave fluids tonight also, so there might be some extra action tonight and I will plan on being ready with some MC and HC food just in case. Even if we go below 50 tonight I still want to stay at this dose at least through tomorrow morning. If we happen to go below 50 again tomorrow morning then I will think about a dose reduction tomorrow night, but only time will tell.
