Upon aspiration of lymph nodes, they were found to be reactive with no signs of neoplasia or organisms, enlarged. All started with weight loss, vomiting. Had not been sick before except for a cold one time treated with convenia.. First vet gave a shot of dex steroid. Cause can only be found by biopsy of tissue but current vet is suggesting prednisone treatment. Has been given cerenia, antibiotic, and profender previously. Others with experience with this. Gracie kitty is 7 years old. Also, how do you respons to someone else's response....I am new.

This post answered one of my question in the other post. The reactive lymph nodes could just mean there is an infection of similar. the pancreatitis could explain the lymph node finding.

Is Gracie eating and acting OK?
If Gracie is diabetic the prednisone will very likely raise the BG and required an increase in insulin. Also, the preferred form is prednisolone is it is more available to the body than prednisone.

Gracie is not diabetic. She has had periods of not eating where she would be swallowing a lot.I first took her in and was given a steroid, dex....something. Then a week later she started to throw up bile and not eat. I switched to another vet who gave her the Cerenia shot and Profender plus took xrays and blood test. She has respomded to the Cerenia shot. She gained weight for two weeks with no vomiting. Then I applied Advantage II and she started the vomiting and then not eating. She rebounded with the Cerenia and acted ok for awhile but then started swallowing again, and wasnt eating again and thats when we had the sonogram done and aspiration. Decided not to do a biopsy. Vet gave her the prednisolone and the Cerenia yesterday. Today she started to eat..very well. She also became more talkative like she normally is. I am boarding her at the vet where they can monitor her eating and give meds. I am hoping she can gain weight as she lost a pound in a month; 6.8 to 5.8 lbs. I am visiting her at the vet. Back in Nov she was exposed to some foster kittens that had colds and she got it. The vet gave her a convenia shot and recovered. Then she started with these problems. The vet says the cold and inflammation are unrelated. Gracie had never been sick for 7 years. She has been on dry food until I started fostering kittens for the shelter at which time she would sneak over and eat some of the wet food. We don't know if she has lymphoma, IBD, or something else. Other than the inflammation her blood work looks good. She is some low on albun. We are trying to get her comfortable, and gain weight. Any other ideas?

What are Symptoms of Pancreatitis in Dogs and Cats?
*Lack of appetite
*Weakness
*Abdominal pain
*Diarrhea
*Vomiting
*Unusual stool color
*Hunched up posture
*Swollen abdomen
*Moaning or wailing
*Difficulty breathing

Pancreatitis can be an emergency. If your dog or cat shows any of these signs of pancreatitis, please take your pet to the veterinarian immediately. Please note that the symptoms of pancreatitis above can also be seen in other health conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, kidney failure or liver disease. That is why it is so important to take your pet for laboratory testing to determine exactly why your cat or dog isn't eating and is lethargic.

Pancreatitis can be caused by a variety of factors such as poor diet or eating garbage. Medications such as corticosteroids can trigger a pancreatitis flareup. High fat meals and obesity can also contribute to pancreatitis.

The Pancreatitis Kit includes three formulas that are helpful for cats and dogs enabling them to digest their foods better, reduce infection and support the liver, pancreas and kidneys: Click on the links below to order products separately but save more when you buy the Kit.

Lypozyme--Digestive enzymes that help dogs and cats with the digestion of protein, fats and carbohydrates. Gentle enough for a tiny pet and effective for larger pets.

Power Probiotic--Provides tremendous relief with digestion, repopulates good flora, helps with stool formation and supports overall immune health. Cats and dogs with pancreatitis often have diarrhea and acid stomach. Power Probiotic replenishes good bacteria to relieve painful digestive symptoms.

Liver/Gallbladder Support For Pets--Provides support for the liver and gallbladder. Digestive problems affect the liver and often pets with pancreatitis have sluggish bile and difficulty digesting fats. Bile can "back up" into the stomach causing painful acid stomach---thus pets don't want to eat. Pets may have abdominal swelling which can improve quickly using this formula.

Thank you so much for responding. I will definitely look at this kit and the pancreatic kit. My sister takes care of a Boston Terrier that has Cushings so will tell her about this. My vet is open to ideas, etc. I see Gracie later today and will get back to you. Thanks again.

Have you had a look at this document. It lists treatments for pancreatitis.

Just read this article and will give a copy to my vet. I dont know if she knows of the patch for pain. Right now Gracie is on the prenisolone and Cerenia. I saw her today. She gained .1 lb in a day and had a good bowel movement and peed earlier today. They let me be with her in a room and she was active and verbal. She seemed restless but mayb that's from being at the vets. I'm wondering if she needs something for pain. Do you know much about the patch or other pain meds?
