2/15 Mikey PMPS 182, +2 83 +2.5 53 +3 37 Dose question. sigh

I am so bummed! 37! Really, Mikey? Was that necessary? So here's the question. After shooting through the inevitable bounce in the morning, do I have to reduce him by a full .25, or can I go down to .63 instead of .5? He was just getting good numbers on this dose, and he doesn't on anything lower. Do we just keep moving him up and down? Should I reduce, then change to a lower carb food, if I don't get good numbers. We tried that before and it didn't work.

When they drop into the 30's, that's a pretty good sign they need the whole reduction

I'd drop the full .25 and then if it's not enough, go UP to .63 ....it's a lot safer

The frustrating thing is that that's what we did last time, and it didn't work. We probably need to find a way to dose in 16ths of a unit instead of 8ths! Or maybe 32nds with Mikey! :) :)

I have to wonder if Mr P is sputtering.

I'd be tempted to shave if you can monitor closely, he's hit 37 before and not held that reduction but don't take my word for it, see what other wiser ones have to say.
 
No advice from me. Just sympathy. I'm sorry if Mikey was led astray by Cinco and China and the others that went into the lagoon today. They were having a big party and some kitties got a little too far from shore. Looks like Mikey got there a little late.

She still using it now! I goed up to 74 den back down to 60. Must be she use dat word when she extra proud of me! She so proud she still up 3 hours after hers bed time! You should see her strutting round her wit da can of fud all happy! I has da bubbles. You comin' in?

We've got a serious PJ party going on here. He's only 59 at +6. I'm setting the alarm for +7, because I can't be trusted to stay awake. I can't believe the bounce hasn't started yet.
 
  • If your cat drops into the 30s, a full reduction of 0.25u is recommended. There are very few exceptions given for caregivers who have collected years of data and KNOW their cat's response to the combination of insulin and food backwards, forwards, and inside out.

I'd take the full reduction. Some times the reduction holds the second time around. And yes, you might have to go up and down but IMHO, I'd reduce the 0.25u.

OK, Marje. You know way more about this than we do, so we'll take the full reduction after shooting through the bounce in the morning. I'm so suprized that he hasn't started bouncing yet! This is not typical. I guess all this green time is good.
 
Even China, who dropped to 39 today got the full reduction, and I have lots of data on how she responds to just about everything.

Always better to be safe than sorry!

(I'm still waiting for her to bounce too! What's up with this you guys??)
 
Paws crossed this time Mikey will hold the reduction. Mikey today has seen a lot more green than the Mikey that got reduced last time.
