Hello!
I would greatly appreciate advice in our cause.
My cat Kir is on Levemir for one month and for the two last weeks we are taking 1 u. twice a day (we started from 0,25 u. and followed the SLGS method that I found here on this site).

Today we took our first curve. Please, may experienced ones here help me to interpret it? Should I increase the dose now? Is our type of unsulin fitting for us?

PS 198
+2 196
+4 88,2
+6 113,4
+8 153
+10 252
+12 234

Thanks in advance!
Svetlana

Hi Svetlana. Welcome to LL. I think I know you from some yahoo groups? Someone will be on to give you dosing advice but I do think you will be told to increase another .25. Have you started a spreadsheet yet? Are you testing between +5-+7 most days? It's good that you got a 88 at +4.

The Start Low, Go Slow protocol is posted in the stickies for this forum. It provides guidance on dose adjustments.

The Tight Regulation protocol would have you increase 0.25 units.
Edited to add: After at least 2-3 full days, or 4-6 shots, plus nadir tests.

If you aren't able to get much mid-cycle testing to follow TR, you may want to hold where you are per SLGS,which earns a decrease if you drop below 90 mg/dL on a human meter.

Hello and welcome to you and Kir. To help us help you, it would be best to record Kir's blood sugar data in a common spreadsheet format that we all used. Here are the instructions.

Welcome to the group!

We don't base dose changes on just one cycle. Looking at only one cycle is like taking a close-up photograph. In order to fully appreciate what's going on, you need to see the entire landscape. If you have test data, could you put it in the form of the spreadsheet the Wendy linked?

Thanks for the clarification.

Hello!
It is nice if somebody here already knows us:).
I have been getting invaluable pratical and moral help from CKD and Pancreatitis yahoo groups sinse 2012 year. And now the time to join Diabetic group has arrived - Kir has been taking prednisolone for more than 2 years...

I don't know how i will cope with all this...Now after one month of struggling with high BG I feel almost exhausted - no good meds, no good vets here in Moscow...

But i will try to do my best so any tips, advice and counsel are VERY APPRECIATED!

When I first started, we had another member from Moscow. We have a two protocols we use here for determining dosing. Take a look at the Sticky Notes for the Tight Regulation Protocol or the Start Low Go Slow Method. See which one suits you best and we can help you so that you can figure out what doses to give Kir. There is a lot to learn at the beginning and I think we all felt exhausted at the beginning. It does get easier. :bighug: Keep on reading. The Sticky Notes here have a lot of good advice. You've got Kir on a good insulin. My Neko is also on Levemir. What food is Kir eating? Low carb wet food is what we suggest.
