Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a good night and seems to be ok this morning. He ate most of his nighttime food and so far has grazed a good portion of his breakfast. We had a nice schmooze and he is in his perch over the radiator, making up the menu for tonight's Full Snow Moon Party.

Very cold last night: this morning it was -14 in our backyard. Brilliant sun isn't doing much to raise the temperature. The birds are in feeding frenzy at the feeders. That one chickadee is still singing! (his song--not his "chick- a- dee" note). I think he thinks it's spring!!

Oh my...that IS a pretty picture, but just looking at it makes me shiver!! it's amazing that the little birdies are happy out in that weather - maybe singing helps keep them warm!

Nice start again for Rusty! Those brilliant cold mornings are so wonderful. It actually makes you happy to be out of bed! :p:p

Yo, Rysty! Thanks for the chicken soup yesterday, it really helped! OOOOOO, it is cold there thoughI don't think I's gonna be ice diving tonight. -- Tess
 
Whoa there, Rusty! What's with the dive? You checking the lagoon for sharks? You do take your duties seriously. Just pull'er back a little and surf, dude. We know you're keeping the lagoon safe for all the kitties.
 
Brilliant photo! In many ways. Makes me think of Pogonip mornings. Or hoarfrost, if you're a midwesterner.

Now, Rusty, surfing higher keeps you warmer. Didn't know that, did you. But the deeeeeep Lagoon is where the cold water sits; stay warm Sir Rusty. Stay warm.

Yo! I'm just havin' my normal surf. :D:D:D The 60s and 70s are where I'm most comfortable. So, I'm on duty. No one has to worry. The LagoonMeister has lots of waterwings for kitties surfin' in the deep end.

Wow Ella- what a beautiful picture- I thought it was in Canada they call it "hoarfrost". Great cycle for Rusty- glad to hear he's eating and feeling better! It does not surprise me your chickadee is singing his song of love- remember, spring is not that far away, he has to attract a mate and be ready before his competition beats him out for the best nesting materials and nestholes. I read with envy that you have Redpoll coming to your feeders? That is a very uncommon bird over here in Washington, my friend near the Okanogan Highlands occasionally gets a winter flock, it attracts birders by the hundreds!

I'd never seen Redpolls here, either, but I see on the birding map that this is their winter territory (they breed in the sub Arctic).

Love the pic :) another sweltering day here, it's just past 6pm and I'm still warm in shorts! I gather Rusty had quite a swim this morning. I hate that we don't get the subject lines carrying through on each of the posts anymore, I have to try and piece together the day from people's comments :(

That must be some party they have going, I got a message from Vyktor earlier, it just said don't worry mumbean I be back sometime... I just hope he gets Purrdy back in time for his flight!
