So this morning I used the short needle. I have tried using them in the past but our vet wanted us to go back to long needles as she is concerned the short do not work as well to really get past the skin.

Back to this morning. after the injection, counting to 10 and pulling the needle out really slow, I see one large drop sitting on the fur at the injection site. Did it leak out?

Does anyone make long needles with .5 dose increments? I have not been able to find any online.

Mel,
I've had it leak back out every once in a while - watched it happen so I KNOW it did. It's usually when I've got the skin tented tightly. I don't tent anymore, I just hold fur between thumb and hand and roll it up leaving a part in the hair. I shoot that part - not as much skin tension. I don't know if that was what resolved it or not as haven't tried the actual tent again...the other works better for Dakota and I.

I believe someone does make the long needles with .5 marks but I can't tell you who...I only use shorts.

HUGS! Have a wonderful day!

I just got long needle at Walgreens with the. 5 unit marking on them. I was having issues with the short needles. Milo honestly doesn't care that needle longer, gauge slightly bigger. I feel more comfortable. I just bought one bag so u could see if we would do ok with them. Actually need to head over to get more. They are WALGREENS brand.

I have mor trouble going all the way through than missing for furshots. ADW does carry Monoject and UtiCare in 1/2" half unit needles, but they are 29 gauge, so thicker as well.
