Is it possible that Prednisone can have opposite side effects? For instance, its supposed to cause increased drinking and eating but my Tiggy is not eating as much or drinking much. He is the one that got hit by a car and had successful surgery and 2 weeks from Thursday will be when I get his wire taken out of his jaw. He licks the wet cat food for a bit and then leaves. His pees are the size of walnuts but this morning I took a clump out that was nice size. He is a confusing boy for me and he does attempt to eat and drink so I don't see him being lethargic or anything like that. They did test him the last time I took him like 2 weeks ago for a UTI and they gave me Clavamox for it. I got 2 pills left on his Prednisone before he is finally done with that. I just want to believe that the reason he doesn't seem to have much of an appetite for eating or drinking is due to that medicine.

Well he has been off of clavamox for almost a week now. He is still on Prednisone. I just don't get it because it says on the meds that it can increase thirst and appetite to cause weight gain but its not doing that to my boy. It seems like he has less of an appetite and thirst drive.

I have a cat with terrible allergies, when she is on steroids they seem to affect her differently also, she eats and drinks less and sleeps more, just the opposite of what you expect.

Wow, that is exactly the symptoms of what my Tiggy is going through. So perhaps the Prednisone is causing all of this?

I have 1 pill left of Prednisone and he is done. I was going to just quit giving it to him because I fear these pills are taking away his eating and drinking appetite.

Well I got 35 pills. The directions were to give him 2 pills 2 times a day for 14 days, then 1 pill once a day for 7 days and then 1 pill every other day until gone. So I have one left and I gave him one today. So Wednesday will be his last pill. I just hope he can get his appetite and thirst back. My girlfriend does say he eats and drink a bit of water this morning and while he looks fine I just am not satisfied with it. He weighs 8 pounds and lost a pound and a half in 2 weeks time when I took him in a few weeks ago to be treated for UTI. Need his appetite back so he can put on some weight.

No, my cat that is on Prednisone is not the same one that is on insulin. Poopers is the one on insulin, Tiggy is the one that I am talking about now that is on Pred. I am hoping once he is off Pred that his appetite and thirst will come back.
