Tanya's CRF Site - Has it moved? Or is it no longer live?

Hi all,

I've just tried to look up something on Tanya's site and it's giving me a message that the domain has not been renewed. Do any members know of the status going forward on Tanya's site? Even though Saoirse does not have CRF, I purchased a copy of the book because there's so much invaluable general advice about feline health on Tanya's site and I didn't want to rely on an internet connection in order to have access to it, but it would be such a loss for cats and their caregivers the world over if it were not available any more.

I'd be very grateful if anyone who knows what's happening with Tanya's site could post an update.

Thanks for replying, Debby. I found that site, too, but I don't think it's by the same author. I could be wrong.

Ruth, that link you posted goes to the home page for Tanya's site, so that's progress! (The defunct link was www.felinecrf.org.) I tried clicking on some of the links, but I kept getting 404 errors for the other pages on the site. I wonder if they're in the process of migrating the site to the new web address and need to update the links?

Hi Aine, I just PM'd someone who might know-if i hear anything, I will let you know here. Are you doing okay? Long time no post?

You're a star, Ruth. I'd be very grateful for any news.

I'm hanging in there. I moved house a few weeks before Christmas - stressful at the best of times, but it was unbelievably tough with the health issues to deal with alongside the move. Between that and the FDMB update, it has been a lot to get my head round as well as being physically shattering. I find change extremely difficult to deal with, even positive ones like having somewhere nicer to live.

How are things with you and Tiger? I hope you had a good yuletide and that 2015 will bring nothing but good things to you both. :bighug:

Helen broke her shoulder and accidentally let the site paperwork lapse. She is working on getting it up and running. She posted that the ckd.com should work but it doesn't.

Aine, I was worried about you and Saoirse, moving was going to be difficult and a big adjustment especially during the holidays. I hear you on change-When the board changed over, I was on the old site wondering what the heck happened for one whole night! I am so glad to see you posting here and hoping both you and Saoirse are getting along a little better! We had a very quiet holiday season, usually we travel, this year, we did not due to Tiger-I did not want to board her again.

In the meantime, i had asked on the Hyperthyroid support group if anyone knows about the new site- still waiting to hear something.

I believe she is in the process of migrating the site to the link I posted above. Also, there is a book version of the site which may be obtained on Amazon.

Thanks, Elise and BJ! I'm very relieved to hear that it's just a glitch. I'm very sorry to hear that Helen broke her shoulder. I hope that she feels better very soon.

I bought Helen's book, partly because I value all the information that Helen has put on the site very highly and don't want to risk losing access to it, but mainly because I really wanted to do something to say "thank you!" for the wonderful work that Helen has done on Tanya's site and by way of appreciation for her amazing caring and generosity of spirit.

LOL! Glad to know I wasn't the only one hanging around on the old site, wondering what was going on and pondering why no one was posting. Only it took me about 3 days to figure it out.o_O

And Áine, so glad to see you back on here. Was getting very concerned that something had happened to you. Now I feel somewhat better! Hope you and Saoirse are doing okay and that you'll have a good 2015 in your new home.

I got an email from the 'site' a few days ago saying that the site has suddenly expired with no warning from the host. The website for now was the feline ckd.com but not as up to date as usual but that she was working on it.

Aine, this is the most recent news I have heard below:

This was also discussed on another forum and someone posted this message from Helen that was on TheCatSite website:

...

I will let everyone know if any other information appears on the other forum. I certainly hope that Helen gets the site up again very soon. It is a very valuable source of information. Not all of the pages work on the alternate site, but you might find some information there.

Hi folks,

It is possible to access some info on Tanya's site by Googling something like "Tanya UK food data" (or whatever is specific to your search) and then choosing the 'cached' page. You just can't move to another page directly from there.
And the forum is working, so you can get help there too from some super-supportive and knowledgeable folks.

Eliz

Thanks everyone for the updates and additional ideas about workarounds.

Ruth, I'd be grateful if you could post updates as you receive them. It's such a valuable site, not least of all for the information about nausea, food lists, etc.

Another e mail I received- you can join the support group for free. Most of us who have had hyperthyroid kitties unfortunately have experience with CKD, so the HyperT group was very helpful this case. I did not realize there was a book so i just bought it as well.

"Tanya's CKD Support Group is working fine, you can join here. https://www.bigtent.com/groups/tckd

Her website which is FULL of info is having trouble but she is working on getting it fixed. There is a web archive of her site which is only slightly outdated and you can access it here. http://web.archive.org/web/20141217080436/http://felinecrf.org/

You don't join the website, it's for everyone's use and free.

HTH"

Ruth, you're an absolute star! I just checked out the archived site and I was able to access the Nausea Symptoms page (a great help for kitties here).

The book is excellent. And big!
