I’m afraid yesterday’s PMPS of 390 was a bean induced food spike. I was processing Thanksgiving leftovers into freezer meals and saved all the ugly bits of turkey for critter treats. I put a rather large plate down for Weezer and figured I would give what she didn’t eat to our outie kitties. I guess she didn’t feel like sharing, she ate it all! I was rather surprised but figured there should be no problem with her pigging out on turkey. Since I am the one who prepared the turkey you would think the sugar I put in the brine would have stuck in my mind. Nope. Not until I was trying to figure out the spike at PMPS did it even occur to me. Well duh! ohmygod_smile

Our transition to homemade food is continuing. This morning I added only ½ the usual amount of canned food to the homemade. I added her required bonito flake sprinkle and put it on her placemat. She ate all of the flakes and the food stuck to them then asked for more flakes. I kind of ignored her. When my back was turned to her I could hear a lot of slurping going on, but when I looked in her direction she would sit next to her bowl, look at me, look at her bowl, then at the flake container. But I still ignored her plea. This happened a few times, until her food was about ¾ gone. I feel like I won this round. We are getting closer.

Hi Linda, WHOOPS on the turkey. ohmygod_smile Oh well, it's one number in a sea of many, right? At least Weezer enjoyed it! I love the play by play on the food. Too funny. Kitties are way smarter than they're usually given credit for. Have a great day!

Oh well, what's one day with the turkey and Weezer really loved it. I think lots of us gave our kitties a treat on Thanksgiving. I've never tried the Bonita flakes, and a lot of the kitties seem to love them. New treat option for Mags. Have a nice weekend.

Your post made me chuckle. I can see Weezer sitting there, slurping up food while your back is turned. You look and she's just sitting there -- "Nope. I didn't eat any of that food. It just magically evaporated. I'm just waiting for the good stuff. You know, the fishy flakes. I'm not gonna eat without no fishy flakes!"

I hope Weezer's numbers come back down.

Morning - love the food story - I can so see he scene. Way to go Weezer! no dummie there. :razz: I am glad though that the transition is going well. OK Weezer... time though to exit the pink floor... the others await your arrival.

That turkey was really delicious, wasn't it, Weezer. Hi Linda, it's a good thing Thanksgiving only comes once a year! Great story. Weezer, you rock!

I usually have honey on my toast in the morning and she likes to hang out and hope for some milk from my cereal. I always have to be sure I wash my hands before I pet her while I"m eating because she would lick that honey and my fingerprints right off!!

Tobey gets 500 mg L-lysine in his food bid when he has an outbreak and 250 mg bid when he's in the clear as a maintenance....yes, it does help!!

I think Weezer definitely deserved a little turkey treat yesterday, even though there is a bit of a food spike today. We all need to overindulge once in awhile. Too funny on the food story. Weezer is one smart little kitty! I know if someone sprinkled chocolate chips on my brussel sprouts, I would do exactly the same thing!

Heh! I can so relate to Weezer's turkey eating. It was Thanksgiving afterall. Can't tell you how many years I pigged out on Thanksgiving dinner, eating stuffing and gravy, and mashed potatoes to my heart's content. Add a piece of pumpkin pie to the that as well. Of course those BG numbers skyrocket but who cares, once a year or so. Not encouraging it but it happens to all of us with the big D. :lol:

C'mon down Weezer. Morgaine is still waiting for you on the lower levels.

Keep your eyes on Weezer, cause once your back is turned...Wham! he's e :lol: eating up whatever he can of people food!!!(Moonie says way to go Weezer!)
Moonie is much more brazen, she'll try to eat your food right in front of you!
My dear Copper(GA) used to lick the butter off my toast all the time, while I was eating it!!
One way or the other, these cats love to eat!!
