Good Saturday to Everyone in Lantus Land,

    AMPS=101

King Basil looks very good and says his subjects are treating him pretty well--for humans.

He was very amusing again last night, playing with three toys at once. I tried to get pictures but it wasn't working out so well. I'll have to see what I got. Is there any place to post pictures here besides as an attachment to a post?

Looking forward to some of that beautiful green surf for all the kitties in LL today.

Great numbers for Basil. I suspect he'll be surfing green in about 30 seconds!

It sounds like his antics last night were definitely worth filming. How cute!!!

    Basil,
Those were pretty nice numbers last nite; you could not get flatter with a ruler!
Let's see is you can do the same nice green string today!
(psst, Basil, there may be some treats and even a 4th toy if you play your cards right with those nice numbers ;-) )

    Re: 2/6 Basil AMPS=101 +2=91

Thanks, Sienne. Thanks, Gayle. I like those numbers, too.

Now with an AM+@ of 91, I say jump on that green surfboard, Basil!

I do have a question. Basil's new feeding schedule is this, all FF LC or Merrick LC, in which case the amount are halved because the can is roughly twice the calories:
    AMS: 1/2 can FF
    +4: 1/4 can
    +8: 1/2 can
    PMS: 1/2 can
    +3: 1/4 to 1/2 can
ON: 1/2 can in frozen cubes

The +3 is when I (try to) go to bed. Last night, Sonbean did a +4. Is there any point doing that after he has chowed down at +3? Is that feeding schedule going to hide his real night time nadirs?

A very nice +4. I fed him his 1/4 can and he had a good appetite. Playing a lot more this morning!

    Thanks, Paige!

I'm not sure I have a lot of confidence in the +8=97 reading. We are worried that we have a batch in which some are slightly "off" batch of strips and will be using another box starting next test to see if they seem better. They are from a different lot number.

    beautiful.

I wouldn't worry about the feeding schedule, it seems like it is working great for Basil so I wouldn't change a thing.

    Hi Lydia
What can I say but another beautiful day for Basil!!
Can I borrow your ss for a bit and pretend it is my Maxie's??
Terrific job you are doing with him.
I like that feeding schedule, going to have to study that more.

Basil gave us a 96 for an AM+10.

Yes, his ss is available for rental--for a donation to FDMB, of course! ;)

nice surf numbers Lydia and Basil, DIllan is just finally getting into these numbers too its so exciting :D I like your feeding schedule as well, I might have to try it out. Are you using the 3.3 oz cans of FF I'm not sure if they come in any bigger sizes then this? Also do you know how much Basil weighs? Thanks and once again congratulations on the nice numbers.

    Hi Mike,
Basil would ideally weigh about 12.5 pounds. I think he is more like 13.5 right now. I am using the FF small cans. I don't think it comes in any other size. They have about 80 calories per can.

Basil's sister Rosie is a smaller cat but she has been up over 16 pounds at one point, when I was an idiot and she was eating 100% Purina Dental Diet dry food. She was always hungry, too. Now, she is down to about 14 pounds, and probably should be 11. She requires fewer calories than Basil, and eats 2 cans per day to Basil's 2.75.

I think it is very important to look into how many calories each different food type has. They can be quite different! Good luck with Dillan. I hope he learns to love green!

    Recap:
    AMPS 101 (meal)
    +2 91
    +4 70 (meal)
    +6 78
    +8 97 (meal)

Smooth riding today! And thanks, Ronnie! Basil says he's rather proud of himself. (He pronounces it "rahhhther" which is kind of pretentious in a kitty frim CT, but we let it slide.)

Ok. We're going to try that on the next green PS. I will have DH, who is doing all the shots so we can be as consistent as possible, sleep with this picture tonight.

Thanks, Jill. I really appreciate your help!

Basil has a nice plump 78 as a +3. I'll feed him his last mini meal of the day and leave him food and go to bed.

Well, shortly. DH is still playing with the syringe and counting drops. I think he feels he has the 0.1 down pretty well for when we need it.

Thanks, Erica. It is really cold here and my hands have been freezing. This causes Basil to give me the hairy eyeball when I touch him. So, I have learned a valuable thing about testing: warm hands only!
