    Link to yesterday

Spacey did vomit last night/this morning again.
Gave her just plain food @7am: Almo Nature light. Ate approx. 1/2 can. Not a lot for her, but I hope she keeps it in.
I didn't gave her Metacam or anything else, just food an insulin.

Yesterday evening she didn't have the AB's. I think I ask monday for an injectable AB to spare her the sickness en vomiting. Don't know yet. See how she does this day.
#'s are good I think. She kept 'm in the mid blue all night. Without eating and vomiting.

Vomiting more than once or twice in a day is of concern. It can cause dehydration and an electrolyte imbalance. There can be multiple causes for why a cat is vomiting. Not to scare you but Gabby ingested dental floss several years ago. She started vomiting repeatedly. Getting the floss extracted required a serious abdominal surgery and if the surgery hadn't been done, she would have died. The only symptom was vomiting. You don't know if Spacey has ingested something she shouldn't have -- a foreign object, something toxic, or if she is having a reaction to the antibiotic. Please contact your vet.

I'm scared again. Realising though that this is still the caninsulin-never-know-when-to-expect-the-lowest-point-fear.
Spacey just ate a bit. She did vomit again after breakfast, but kept the food down, just some fluids. So I hope things will improve for her during the day.
My other cat eats less than he used to as well. Guess I gave them something yesterday that wasn't well anymore.
And I still have to get used to them eating less, cause they get wet food and with Spacey having lower bg's, her hunger must lessen as well.

She is more alert than yesterday, just feeling sick after the vomiting and then sleepy. But now alert again.
I'm tired. Hope I make some sense.

Question: when is her bg too low?

that's quite a drop at +2. i'd squeeze out some of the gravy out of a can of hc and offer the gravy to spacey. since her tummy has been upset, we don't want to fill her up or have her vomit this early in the cycle...

we'd like to keep her above 50.

Ella, what do you have on hand for HC? I'm not sure about the food differences in the NL and in Germany, but I usually use Kit-E-Kat

she just ate a bit of mornings left overs....
Try if she likes a hc snack...

She did have 3 snacks of Multipurpose Treats of Trovet. Very grainy. The fourth she didn't want anymore. The HC food she didn't want either, gave some lc of which she ate a bit.
I'll try to let her dictate the pace. I'd rather have her eat a bit several times, than vomit again.

Going to check her every 30 min. Good idea?

She is alert and vocal, not too much though.

She doesn't touch Kit a Kat either. Very picky.

I agree with only feeding a little bit at a time, but we really need to have you testing every 15 minutes when she is this low.

Okay, will test her every 15 min.

Her last test was 10:30 am (Netherlands time).
Next test will be in about 6 min.

Result last test: same as before (2.2x18) = 39.

She doesn't want to eat anymore.
She went to the litter box though.
Gave her 3 licks of pancake syrup of my finger.

Next check in about 4 min.. count down.

    Last check:

    10:45 = 2.4x18 = 43

    Continued syrup treatment.

Next check in about 10 min.

btw: her ears wont bleed, is really tough now getting something out of her. Ears are cold. and she is annoyed.

Have you ever used a rice sock to warm her ears? Or can you warm your hands and then massage her ears for a little bit before trying to poke?

What + hour are we at now?

    +4 up to 46.8

    Recap:
    AMPS @7am = 140
    +2 = 73
    +3 = 39
+3.5 = 39 (started syrup treatment cause she wont eat anymore)
    +3.75 = 43 (continued syrup)
    +4 = 46

    shall I continue the syrup?

I'd like to see her a little higher, so I would keep giving the syrup until we can get her at least in the 60's. If she will eat, then great, otherwise syrup it is.

Sometimes honey works better than syrup. I always used honey, it is thicker so you can rub it good on the lips, gums, and tounge. If you have some dry food you can try giving her a few peices or some high carb treats. Sometimes they will eat better if it is from the hand.

Monique, I tried hc treats. She wont eat.
Is exhausted now, wont even lick the syrup or what so ever. going to rub everything straight into mouth.

    +5 = 54

She had a bit of catmilk. Not too much, don't wont her to throw up again.
I think she hates me quiet a bit right now. All she want's is to be left alone. Which I'm not doing. :?

    Re: 01/23 Spacey AMPS=140, +2=73, +6=64 EVENING DOSE?

Spacey is up to 64. Woohoo...

She is still not really well though. Just went to the toilet twice: once peeing, once for pooing (diarrhea). I'm so not giving her the AB's tonight.
Will call vet on monday and ask for AB which can be given as a shot.

So, Spacey seems to be out of the woods bg wise. But she still hasn't eaten much yet. On the other hand: this is not the time she normally eats.
I'm glad that she didn't vomit anymore. The breakfast is at least still in there, doing it's job. Well, or it left as diarrhea just now...

I will take her bg's @ +7 again and so on. Just to keep an eye on her.

But what oh what do I give this evening? The pm-shot will be 7 hours from now.

Re: 01/23 Spacey AMPS=140, +6=64 ADVICE ON EVENING DOSE?

Well Spacy has earned herself a decrease, so usually you go back .25U I think you have to wait and see what her numbers are in the evening. If she bounces or not, and how her appitite is then. If she eating normally then your new dose is 1.25U if she is still vomitting or not eating then it should be reduced a little more. I guess we have to wait until you get there. Good job today! I hope she is feeling better today.

Just looked at your sheet, she's back up there , how is she doing otherwise? Is she interested in food? If she will eat then I would do the 1.25U, if she isn't eating then I'm not sure, she needs both insulin and food. If she won't eat you will have to get it into her somehow and give her enough insulin so that she can use it. Let's hope she makes it easy and starts eating.

I agree with Monique - post when it's +11 so we can help you stratagize about Spacey's PM dose.

You might want to see about picking up some baby food. It's very easy on the stomach since all it should contain is pureed meat and broth.

She already has her +11 (in the SS) I think it was 211 or so (don't have it open anymore, and they are so slow today opening) It kinda depends on Spaceys appitite, her numbers will be good to go for 1.25U, but only if she can eat something.

    Sorry - I mistakenly thought that was a +10 (I'm sleep deprived.).

Post the time (the actual AMPS, +1, whatever) that Spacey eats. Remember that your next shot will need to be 12 hours after that shot. Whatever you can do to entice her to eat will be good. I would suggest giving her small amounts every 30 min. more or less, so she can hopefully not throw the food back up.

She didn't eat, so hubby and I decided to go with 1 IE.
He kinda gave her some juice with a syringe.
And now (+.5) she licked a lot of tuna water. Hope that'll jump start her or so. I am very very tired and on edge. I'm really stressed out.
She is lying on a Kenwood stereo thingy (don't know what it is) for warmth. I do have an electrical blanket on the couch for her as well.

My other cat isn't eating as well btw. They are both off their usual game.

Maybe I'm a complete worrier, but if this persists (the not eating and vomiting), I really want you to consider finding an emergency vet clinic. If you're stressed and think something is wrong, listen to your gut. Your vet's office should have information on their phone about what to do in an emergency or if there is a vet school in Amsterdam, they are likely to have an animal hospital and an emergency department.
