Ok... I had to make some phone calls and dance around the house for a little bit before I could settle down and type.
Just talked to my vet. They found that the sinuses on Kasha's left side were completely full of snot (my vet said that's the medical term - lol). She looked at the extraction sites and every one was healing beautifully except for the one upper left canine. She said canines have really deep roots - and when she flushed out the site, some of the flushing solution came out her nostril. So - it looks like that one extraction didn't heal well and an oral-nasal fistula opened up - basically a tiny hole from the extraction into her nose. Bacteria were then going back and forth from her mouth to her nose and vice versa - resulting in infection and the mucus build up. None of the mucus was colored - also good. So, she sutured the fistula up - I believe "sutured the crap out of it" was the phrase she used. We're switching her to clindamycin (poor girl) - my vet said we could stick with the azithromycin and see how she responded, but I asked what she thought was the very best antibiotic in this case and she said she's had very good results with the clindamycin for oral/nasal type things. So - I hate to switch her again, but I want her to have the exact best a/b for this since we've been thru so much.
And they saw nothing else on the x-rays - everything else looked good. The little turbinate bones in her nose are intact - apparently they are often destroyed in cases of chronic sneezing, and chronic sinus issues.
I heard yowling and my vet said "That's your girl - she's waking up and she doesn't want to be here!". She also said "I don't know what kind of cat this is, but she's made of titanium. Maybe she's part tree shrew, I don't know what kind of cat this is, but she's a tough girl".
Now - logic tells me that whatever was going on in her head has been that way for a while and that the news I got today I would have gotten anyway - but I can't help believing that all the positive energy from FDMB really made a big difference. Last night - Kasha'd been having her 2nd really bad day and once the healing vines and light and snowflakes started coming in - her breathing quieted for the first time in days and she had a better night than she's had in a long time. Then this morning, her AMPS was much lower than last night's PMPS - making me think she was feeling a little better than she felt yesterday. I credit all of you for sending us such wonderful healing energy. Thank you all so much! My heart is feeling so full right now. This is turning out to be a better birthday than I'd even hoped!
