J.D. is fine, he finally got his last shrimp with his breakfast. I don't know where he is, so that probably means he's laying on the rug in front of the sink waiting for more, but that was the last one (unless he gets more green today).

Fresh Levemir Question

I have just a few doses left in the first Lev cartridge. Would a fresh cartridge pack more of a punch the way one of Lantus would? I don't want to start a fresh cartridge while I'm not home. if so.

to be honest. I have used mine down to the last drop although jojo has said that once down to the 12 mark it looses potency. not so in wheezers case and jojo agreed, at least regarding wheezer. I get the same numbers regardless. I have used i cart up to almost a year with no change in numbers after opening a new one

How long have you been using this pen? Since 7/9??
I never really saw much of difference in my Lev...but Shadow's numbers are a little crazy so I can't speak to that issue. I have been using my pens for about 6 weeks and never pushed it any longer than that. I throw away a pretty full pen each month....i am not sure if I should just keep using it till it is empty...people sometimes suggest a new pen cause Shadow is so wonky! :lol:

I set my alarm for 2 hours for my btb cause one day I did sleep 4 hours too... :o That was a lost day, waking up at 12:30pm!!
I flashed back to my youth that day! :lol:

Thanks Dian and Pat. This first cartridge is on it's 45th day, so that's 6 1/2 weeks, and I don't see any markings on the glass, but it looks like there's only about 5 or 6 doses left in it. I think I'll start a new cartridge tonight, since I'm home tomorrow. If I want to be cheap, I can always use up this one, once my fears of ultra potency from a fresh cartridge are quelmed (is that a word?).

I love that 111 on the meter. It's so uniform, and neat :-D anal...
J.D.'s has been pacing since I brought him back in from the rain, and his back is all sopping wet but he doesn't care, he wants to go back outside.

That's a good idea....since you will be home tomorrow and you can watch him. More data for the SS...how does J.D. do on a new pen! :mrgreen: but that +5.5 shows that there isn't too much wrong with the one you are using...oh well,..be wild and crazy and throw away the other 5 or 6 doses...I agree with your way of thinking! (which should be a BIG warning to you ....) :lol:

Ah, Dian, you're doing a fantastic job with Wheezer. ECID for sure, especially Wheezer and his special dosing schedule :-D I see a bunch of nice low greens on his spreadsheet.


OT we were at the far end of the grassy field when it started to pour. We came back soaked. Ginger ran home like a Cheetah at 40 miles per hour. J.D. trotted. :-D The kitties got a towel dry. Now the air conditioner feels cold.

thanks dyana but seems as though those "nice low greens" mean nothing to wheezer. any other cat would have been OTJ with the # and the dose he gets. sigh

We just had a false alarm on the lost cat. I got scratched. I put hydrogen peroxide on my wounds, that's right, right?

We started a new cartridge tonight. I ran out the door as soon as the shot was given. He has eaten his first installment of dinner. I think we'll go sit outside for awhile. A little bit stressed from the excitement. I'm so sad the cat we caught was owned by someone else. The owners have been looking for their lost cat nine days now.

maybe you mean:

RE: insulin carts - I have used mine for quite a few months myself. A few times I pitched the carts when there was quite a few doses left only because Spot's numbers weren't that great, only to find out it was because Spot's numbers weren't that great. (did I see you used the term anal???)

Hahaha, on Ginger running out of the rain. I have that mental image in my mind and can't stop chuckling. Such a silly girl!

I just happened to wake up to my alarm. So tired.. need to go back to sleep. I just fed him some 5% FF (more carbs than he normally gets). I'm going to try to sleep until +6.

I almost fell asleep a couple times, but not quite. He got also got a shrimp for each of these two green tests. I know they're probably not good for him, but as a special treat, I hope it's okay. He doesn't get greens all that often.
Btb for 1 hour (I hope).
