7/18 Kasha AMPS 145 PMPS 173, 83 @ 2.3 Dose question

Appetite was probably low - she only ate about 1 Tbsp at first... then I convinced her to eat about 1/2 Tbsp more. She ate a small snack at +9 (at first I typed "snake" and thought - no, that doesn't look right).

Some sneezy fits. Who knows?

I'm exhausted and my back hurts in one particular place (if I stand straight up, doesn't bother me. If I lean down and touch my toes, doesn't bother me... Yet everything in between... bothers me... muscle knot or spasm maybe?)... So I'm going btb. Had to make sure I posted first in case I wake up and can't remember if I've given her shot. Yes - that's how tired I am again.

And sad... My eyes are sore and puffy from crying so much yesterday. Between my personal life and LL, this has been a very, very sad weekend.

My heart goes out to Carolyn on the loss of her beloved Latte... I still can't believe it.

Prayers and vines for all the kitties who aren't feeling well today... It's been a tough week.

Kasha's numbers have been amazing! That alone is worth being elated about!

Try to get some good rest, ice cream, mabe even a *little* piece of cake. :smile: But rest is the most important right now. You don't need to get sick.

Funny, I was thinking that if I have to go to my chiropractor tomorrow or Tuesday, I'd stop by Whole Foods and get a BIG piece of cake :smile:

An acquaintance of mine emailed me about another person we both know. Apparently he kind of lost his mind and was involuntarily committed somewhere for a little while (he's getting better now). My first thought: "is that what happens to people who don't have kitties to take care of? Cuz I would sure love to have a breakdown after this past year, but I just don't have the time..."

:-D Yes, kitties can really help us stay grounded. It sounds like you have both feet firmly planted on the ground. Good for you!

Ok - she nibbled at dinner... I didn't measure to see how much she ate - I know she ate about 1/2 Tbsp Wellness before she and Blue went on strike and refused to eat any more until I brought out some FF...

I have a question... I'm not happy about how her AM and PM preshots are so high in relation to the rest of her numbers. Like today - no idea where the 143 at +8 came from... I tried to give her a snack around +8 when I left the house - and left out a spoonful of food, hoping she'd snack around +8 or +9 but the food was untouched when I got home. I'm getting up around PM +9 to give her a snack as well (actually bringing it to her so I know she's eaten some of it). When we first started this dose (.1 u), she dove down to 48 on the second cycle but hasn't come that low again, that I know of. I am seeing her drop down to the 60s and wonder if the higher numbers on the ends are sort a mini bounce? Other than trying to give her mini meals (and hoping she eats them when I'm not home - but she's a pretty good grazer, for the most part), is there anything I should try to even this out? I'm wondering if I should tweak the dose - but not sure which direction. I am curious what would happen if I shaved down her dose even more - if her numbers would rise or if they would even out more... Or should I just let this dose settle for a while longer? Any ideas? Advice?

Hi Krys,

i'll try to answer your question re Kasha's dose.... I think I would sit tight with the dose and play with the food. The nadirs are good, you got some meds and some Squids in there.... health consideration for which I don't have much expertise.... so ... I should just be quiet I guess.... so there's my answer.... I'm mute.

Hopefully someone else stops by to answer your question.

The pre-shot numbers, especially the AMPS, are usually the last numbers to come down. I wouldn't drop the dose. I'm inclined to suggest waiting it out but I'd also like to see what others have to say.

Aside from a snack around +8, how are you feeding? It sounds like you feed at shot time and then there's food for Kasha to free feed?

Yes - food at shot time and then I leave out enough food that they can graze most of the day (about 2 cans of FF per feeding will usually last them 12 hours). Sometimes there is food left when I get home, often there is not. I also put a spoonful or 2 in an autofeeder during the day if I'm not home so it will open around +8 or +9, in the hopes that if all other food is gone (or if she just wants new untouched food) she will eat it hopefully before +10...

When I'm home, I see her get up every few hours and nibble at the food - at least until later in the cycle, when she is often dozing most of the time.
 
So... I think of the preshot numbers as reactive numbers, because they could be off from food spike, bounce or whatever. But the +2 numbers are where Kasha wants to be starting out... And today she wants to be starting at 83! LOL...

I'm going to treat myself to a (small) chocolate malt with extra malt.
